Well I think he's just saved his own skin with this incredibly workable idea.

They’re going to build gingerbread houses so the poor can eat them. Maybe include a bit of wood so they can burn them in the winter to stay warm too.
Generally, the VONC seems to have weakened him even further if those exchanges in cabinet are anything to go by. It’ll be interesting to see if it becomes open rebellion or if they just let him sit there and take all the flak. Obviously another vote can’t take place but you’d think he can effectively be all but forced out in other ways. I imagine it will get uglier because he’ll cling on for dear life

I can't see any issues at all with this policy, none whatsoever. I think as has been said, the 1992 committee can change the rules for another VONC at will, because like everything else in politics in this country nothing is writtenin stone and everything is open to abuse. But honestly man, this particular bribe is bat shit even by Johnson's standards.

It has the added bonus of propping up house prices, which may never be allowed to fall under any circumstances whatsoever. Doubly important now all that lovely Russian money has stopped flowing into the property market (legally, at least).

I just can't imagine very many on benefits wanting anything to do with this. They're already going to be struggling to make ends meet, and seeing their bills go up on a literally daily basis. Rental agreements are relatively easy to get out of compared to a mortgage so who wants to be saddled with that.

Strikes me as the next step in phasing out the notion of social housing. "Right to buy" all over again but this time everycunt is skint and there's barely any social housing left.

I just caught about 3 mins of Question Time, which I haven’t been able to watch for years and, fuck me. There’s barely anyone there who’s  not a white bloke and you’ve got Tom Harwood being given a platform and holding court. Slick, nasty, divide and rule, horrible shit in a young, handsome package being given a platform by the BBC in the interests of ‘balance’.

Caught a few minutes of it, was more than enough. Fiona Bruce pretending to play devil's advocate in a panel full of Tories just reaffirmed my idea of how far gone we are.

Talk about limiting the spectrum of debate.
