So he’s fucking off his core party supporters in an attempt to appeal to Sun readers? To be fair it worked for Blair :cuppa:

He’s fucking off the likes of me even, and I’m fundamentally a political nomad.

Still in the whoever can beat the Tory camp though, which means I’ll be voting labour by default.

Same here. I’ll be voting Lib Dem, a vote for Labour is wasted round here. That’s why I’ve voted for Milliband and Corbyn in the last two elections :good:

I never voted for Blair, he was blatantly far too much of a fuckin old Tory from the get go for me. I liked Charles Kennedy too which helped, and then an old mate stood for the Lib Dems in this constituency a couple of times as well . Then that fuckin idiot Nick Clegg threw everything away by getting into bed with the tories…then came the jock bird who had the persona of excitable primary school teacher, and the Christian from the Lake District who didn’t like the gays etc etc …. fuckin hell am talking myself into voting Green tbh :cuppa:

I don’t profess to know a single thing about politics but am generally a labour voter.

Im outraged at the general standard of politicians in this country really. Any other line of work and these fuckers would be in the dole queue.

I will be voting to remove the tories rather than voting for labour at this point but they have had 12 years and not got one single thing correct so, although Starmer isn’t my cup of tea he represents the best option to me at the moment.

Starmer just sacked the shadow transport minister for joining the picket line today

It’s the pragmatic move I suppose. He doesn’t want to look anything like Corbyn nor does he want Labour to be closely associated with a potentially incredibly unpopular series of strikes.

The problem is that if you spend your time worrying about annoying the vote you’re chasing then you end up scared to stand up for what you actually believe in and alienating your core vote.

That is indeed the problem, and the horse is already bolting - can they shut the stable doors quick enough? I think Renton is the canary in the coalmine for this tbh ;)

Rayner’s boyfriend, no less. Bet that’s gone down like a cold cup of sick with her.

Just putting it out there, but all sides could have known this was coming - he may have fallen on his sword to give Labour the opportunity to distance themselves from the issue before it kicks off. Could be that he fancies another role in government when the time comes. It certainly all happened very quickly.

Reeves made anti-trans comments last week which is supposedly against Labour policy without a word being said. Then she said nationalisation was out across the board only for them to have to backtrack and say railways was still policy.

Not a fucking word.

Rayvin has absollutely laced you lot in this debate. It boils down to the fundamental importance of truth, without that the country is fucked. Starmer is a liar and a coward. The country can't move on under his stewardship. I'm aware how much I've flip flopped on this issue but I've had enough now. The only thing I care about is the truth. If you can't give me that, if your game is to appease the liars and Gemmill's mam, you can get fucked.

The country is fucked whatever happens.

There is a flaw in expecting the Labour party to uncover some backbone because people withhold their vote. Two, really. 1, it's entirely possible that they'll see low support as an indication they need to go even further right, 2, what if there isn't an inspiring socialist to lead the party at the subsequent GE? Another 8 years of Tory rule? No thank you. I'll take this faux-Labour and hope the members, trade unions and backbench MPs apply sufficient pressure on Starmer et al.

Happened across this clip the other day. Lavery should be commended for being reserved enough not to punch the cunt square in the face. The blown kiss right at the end just demonstrates the utter contempt for anyone who doesn't agree with his rhetoric. Fuck wanker, I hate Johnson.

Are they porn movie standard nuns or old real nuns ? Makes a significant difference IMO.

While I think it was definitely a mistake from Starmer, the minister who went on the picket line knew he was breaking collective responsibility and was putting the spotlight on his party. If he didn't like the decision then the onus was on him to resign from his position.

As much as many don't like Starmer's tactics it does appear to be working.

It's not so much his tactics as his policies. Making things worse but not quite as enthusiastically as the Tories will do nothing to make the country better, and will imo have a long term worse effect

Clearly the current system of price caps was not designed for the extraordinary situation in the energy market that we're seeing today. Surely something has to be done? Even Sunak must look at how popular eat out to help out and furlough made him with the public. Legislating to help families with energy costs right now would be a sure fire vote winner.

On a related note I've seen DWP advertising on Twitter and the radio about the money they're giving to benefits claimants. Seeing as this money is paid automatically into bank accounts with no need to claim then these adverts are nothing more than government paid promotion for the Tory party?

Its a political disaster zone at the moment and Im hoping he is playing the game. At the end of the day as long as he starts taking money from the rich to give the poor a better life and funds the NHS then that's a start.

I'm not entirely sure what this proves mind you - his favourability rating amongst a subset of people who are pre-defined as intending to vote for him is quite high. All we can infer from that is that these presently pro-Labour people are also +57 pro Starmer. There's not enough information there to draw any other conclusions about his overall strategy as the totally number of 2019 Conservative voted who currently say they would vote Labour could be 25 people.

The fact that he's viewed more favourably than Sunak and Truss is something.

Fundamentally it's "good" that Centrica's shareholders get larger dividends but "bad" to increase workers wages.

That's the message drummed in over 40 years and nothing will improve until its tackled.

Two years ago we made a couple of hundred people redundant to cut costs as shareholders had been promised a certain figure for returns - I suggested to a couple of people we could keep the staff and offer 3 or 4 percent less and I was either laughed at or looked at like I was insane.

Greed is good when it comes to profits but evil when it comes to costs.
