The OFFICIAL Transfer Rumours Thread

Certainly but with Pardew as head of our coaching team it seems to me that it's even less likely to succeed. He can't get anything out of full internationals so I have no faith in his ability to bring it out of youngsters.

He can't get the best out of foreign players. He never has and never will, hence his desire to try and bring some Brits in now. He doesn't have a history of bringing youngsters through either so you are right there. But the fact is there aren't any good youngsters to bring through. Not good.

To be depressingly honest, if I had a little'un who showed promise I doubt I'd want him going through Newcastle's Youth System... Prefer him to go to Boro' or the likes.

I think there's a lack of proper funding and has been for decades.

Player development is pathetic, so too talent identification. For years and years. Someone needs to take a trip to Southampton and see how they do things and follow their blueprint. To not see more locals come through the system in a catchment area the size that it is is a disgrace.

I think Ashley will, but if we aren't spending that and then some I think we can fairly forecast quite accurately a battle against relegation. A battle that we're more than likely to lose.

Five signings are needed eh? Then the article goes on to mention eight players possibly leaving (including the loanees) so we're planning on thinning possibly the thinnest squad in the league by another 3 players ffs.

Lacazette and Cabella replacing Cabaye and Remy would be a start, both have had good seasons though so we'll probably "not be held to ransom" for them and end up with weimann and delph

We're not playing in the cups remember? And if we manage to secure survival by December again then it'll just be another 6 month season.

I have now no doubt whatsoever that this is exactly what will be going through the minds of the board.

Aye true enough Aimaad, just need to get through 20 or so games then coast the remainder of the season. If we're struggling then we can bring in a few in January to avoid relegation. What really astounds me though is that someone like Moyes could easily hit Ashley's goal of survival every year with even less risk + investment than Pardew, surely it'd be worth investing a bit more in wages to bring him in? Then again Moyes is a risk of getting highly unfasionable sides into Europa league contention, something Pardew has accidentally managed once which almost cost us!

Jose is keen on Lukaku at Chelsea next season, looks like he has finally come round to him.

Hes not like, they're after diego costa, Lukaku has reportedly been offered a new deal and told he is to be loaned out again.

Aye, they've offered him a deal and offered him out on loan only to inflate his valuation so they can sell him the following season. Not for him to gain experience and then come into the Chelsea team. Hopefully he tells them to get fucked.
