Toonpack 15196
So PL witnesses history twice, Bethels first senior (1st class) ton and the biggest one day margin in history. Canny.

Canny. First Professional / senior / international ton. ODIs have List A status but they are not first class matches. Like Virat Kohli has 82 international centuries (Test/ODI/ T20 Internationals) but ‘only’ has 37 first class ones.

Alex 41797
It would be nice if Archer could reproduce that this winter against the Aussies. We’re probably going to need him and Wood available for at least 3 tests each if we’re going to have a sniff of a chance. I just hope it’s a competitive series tbh

Alex 41797
I think he’s great tbh. And he’ll know exactly what other coaches are getting. The owners of the 100 franchises are all dodgy venture capitalist outfits anyway. It’s a load of shite and has completely fucked up the English test summer too Edited October 9 by Alex
Tom 15452
Yeh its an absolute joke of a competition, especially for North East fans - out nearest team is Headlingley ffs I think its good for women’s cricket but its absolutely knacked everything else. Durham were going well in the blast before a ridiculous 6 week (iirc) break to facilitate the 100. That’s before we get on the England T20s/ODIs in late september. Absolutely farcical.

Agree on women’s cricket. Also would add it gives people the opportunity to see international cricketers on terrestrial tv. But the negatives far outweigh the positives imo. And I know I’m a bit of traditionalist when it comes to cricket but the English test summer being over at the end of July / beginning of August is sacrilege imo. And they’ve even done that when you’ve had the (financial) big guns in Australia and (more recently) India touring. Also, when it started the strategic partners could only hold a 49% stake. But that’s quickly been dispensed with.

I did enjoy the india series, it was class but agree that the test season & even limited overs games were messed around by the 100. Overall I just don’t like the format tbh
