With the flak we are currently taking by the anti-research popular opinion for how we have mistreated Pardew into leaving us after he took us fifth that one season, I can see Carver being our head coach until the smoke has cleared out. However we'll still struggle getting a proper manager before next season, but it would help alot if we reached an European competition and also if Pardew did terrible in his new job. Also sign some new defenders in January to improve our horrible goal difference, so we would look a little bit less hopeless in general.

anyone who thinks we'll appoint anybody with any kind of recently gained impressive reputation is as big a mug as those who said we'd sign a marquee striker in the summer. Who were those again?

It depends on what you class as recent. Harry Basset did guide Wimbledon to the top flight tbf and coined the term "route one football".

Ashley has announced he will not be employing a British Manager. Remy Garde (ex Lyon) and Cristian Galtier (Marseilles) are heading the list for the Head Coach position. Garde is available now.

Has he? Source?

Could be some misunderstanding here, that he meant he's not looking for the old style of a british manager, that he'll go for the more continental model of having a head coach.

Not so much the nationality of the new man in charge.

Carver mentioned the "head coach" thing I think the other day. To all intents and purposes that's what we've since Allardyce was sacked. So I'm a bit surprised that some appear to have been taken a bit unawares by this news. THERE AGAIN PERHAPS NOT.....
