on the contrary, the older the better. So far I think I have it made in Newcastle between 1700-1720.

 

If confirmed it will be going to the FLO (finds Liason officer) and I will have officially found treasure

A bit gutted

 

Turns out it was made by Thomas Sewell 1st in The Side  (now Dean street, Newcastle) around 1860.

 

Found a similar one in the V&A museum.

Btw there was a bloke with a metal detector at the beach at Seaton Sluice yesterday. Surely it must be bleeping every couple of metres with all the discarded cans of carling and what have you
