Somehow "Flying" and "Fourth Division" used in the same sentence made me fucking laugh.

They and Preston NE pissed that league that year and were breaking records and after getting Northampton we got their title rivals in the next round.

Why am I worried McClaren will start a decent side, but will struggle to get the job done?

Is it replays or extra time/penalties?

It's extra time and penalties.

Thanks Google

We went out in the last 8 last season with a fairly full strength team at Spurs, getting twatted 4-0. We sadly still had Pardew as manager which goes a long way to explaining that...also the third choice keeper wasn't much cop either..

Newcastle United

31 Alnwick

36 Dummett

06 Williamson

02 Coloccini

19 Haidara Booked

07 Sissoko (Anita - 74' )

14 Colback

20 Cabella (Vuckic - 80' )

17 Pérez

11 Gouffran

29 Riviere (Armstrong - 60' )

Substitutes

08 Anita

23 Vuckic

32 Armstrong

34 Streete

37 Satka

41 Woodman

44 Roberts

That game was a massive disappointment after the result at Man City.

Steve McClaren quotes released by the club after today’s press conference:

“We will be putting out our strongest team possible, taking into account Saturday, this weekend and the strength in the squad.

“The cups can be a great boost for you. Nobody wants to lose a football match. We have to do a professional job.

“Northampton are a good team who are strong. In football, any team on their day can beat anyone. If we’re not right, they will hurt us.”

I'd go for

Darlow

Janmaat Taylor Mbemba Haidara

Tiote

Thauvin de Jong Aarons

Mitrovic Perez

Wouldn't start Taylor tbh, if Colo, Mbemba and Janmaat are going to be 3 of our first choice defence I'd start them as they need game time together, the understanding between the 3 hasn't been good enough yet. No surprise since they had no preseason together.

He needs to keep and eye on Saturdays game because we could be bottom by Sunday evening.

Stoke v WBA

Villa v SMB

Southampton v Norwich

We might well be, but who gives a shit? It's still only August man and we've taken points from Man Utd and Southampton. We've had (arguably) the toughest start in the league and done ok.

Fair point, just worried about burning Colo out.
