Question about hardcore

I'm trying to relocate a patio and thinking of digging out the old hardcore ;) and using it again.

Has anyone ever dug it up before? Will a pick axe do the job or do I need one of those pneumatic drills?

If your neighbours see you digging up the patio, you'll arouse suspicions. Probably best bury her elsewhere.

There's this new website called Google....

Bet you came into this thread hoping for topic that you and CT could bond over.

The fedora and metal detector discarded by the pit as your sweaty bodies collide in a glorious moment of firebrand fraternity.

What kind of hardcore is under your patio like? Any I have laid have been on a dry sand & cement base on level earth. Got a feeling its the waste from building your house that the builders couldn't be arsed tipping, good luck digging that up mate.

Actually use a pick axe..

Unfortunately it was a proper job I had done about 15 years ago and if it's done correctly you have a 10-15 cm layer of hardcore / mot?, then sand and or a mortar / dry mortar base. It was basically a soggy bog back then.

Anyway, having weighed it all up I've decided to move the flags with new hardcore and then use artificial grass over the existing hardcore. Same result and a hell of a lot less work.

A thrilling conclusion to the thread. I was on tenterhooks

I was prepared for that but having spent Sunday hacking through different hardcore and basically been fucked ever since, I was looking for an easier option.

Manual graft doesn't sit well with me
