Work Christmas parties

well, it's that time of year again.

forced jollity, free alcohol and the inevitable 45 year old middle manager breaking out the dad moves on the dance floor.

do you despise them or embrace them? my work do is tonight. around a thousand people who never socialise at any other point during the calendar year, thrown together in some nondescript City function room.

i really can't be arsed, but no doubt will end up tapping up the free bar then bending the ear of some senior editor late doors and thoroughly regretting it tomorrow morning.

Think the last work Christmas party I was at was the wife's old company in 2001. She doesn't work anymore and the jobs I have had don't do stuff like this for the likes of 'them'. It's just for office wankers, narks and arse lickers. :)

I'm at mine now. It's shite.

Harvesters again?

St least mine's at a decent place, Blackfriars. Have to pay ourselves of course, not cheap. Hoping to avoid sitting next to the boss this year.

Btw, Worl?

A slight upgrade, but I'm not saying where in case one of them reads this place.

Got ours on 18th, if the summer party is anything to go by it'll be decent. First time in a long time that I had to get off the tube to stop it spinning.

The bosses know the score as well; have food, 1 or 2 drinks, put some cash behind the bar, then make a quick exit, leaving the rest of us to get shitfaced. Office is relaxed enough that even if someone did do something stupid, no fuss would be made.

They're ok at our place, we just have a night in town. We tried a pre-booked meal with entertainment once and it was terrible though

Entertainment?

We call it booze.

Had this image of some poor Stand-Up having to perform to a crowd of nurses with J69 telling him how unfunny and lacking in cool he is. ;)

I don't mind ours. They could drag me up to Nottingham where I'm technically on the payroll, but instead they're happy to fly me out to Berlin where they can save a hotel fare because I stay with one of my best mates who also works for the company. And I get a slice of Berlin out of it. Win-win. :D
