Take no notice of Chez. He wrote off the whole of Belgium after the authorities found his weed stash on the way back from the Dam. He probably got sold a dodgy cowie off a Bavarian fraulein

  • 2 weeks later...

Does anyone know the crack with getting a Visa for the USA?

Me and my mate are on about going over for a couple of weeks and driving about, so just a holiday really. He's worked there before but I've never been, can I just do it online?*

*I've searched and found fuck all.

Yep. Do it online and it lasts 2 years. Just google ESTA. Costs about a tenner I think.

Where are you thinking about driving?

I drove the 33 through the Los Padres National Forest in California. Some stunning views.

Planning is king if you are driving from city to city. When I was living over there it would take 16 hours to drive to the next city we needed to be at some days

Florida has plenty in it to see and hotels are cheap. You could do Orlando/Miami/Key West/Tampa/Gainsville/Panama City. If you finish off at New Orleans it would take you through Alabama and Mississippi too

I've only been to Vegas on the west coast but you could do Vegas/San Fran/LA and take in the Grand Canyon/Yosemite on the way. Would cost a bit more though

Do the South. Start in Nashville, head to Memphis (to Elvis's hoose) then on to Mississippi and down to New Orleans. There's loads of weird characters there and loads of cheap places to stop in between destinations. You can visit plantation houses and listen to the descendants of the slave owners lie about how well their family treated theirs.

There's a blues museum in Clarksdale too.

 Your mate needs to buy a map. ;)

I'd get trains if you're gonna be all East coast. I've been on the train from Philadelphia to New York and it was alright - better than fighting through freeway traffic anyway. There's not much to see in Philadelphia mind.

Aye, I don't think Philadelphia screams "road trip" like. Mind if you have to visit your cousin why not fly there, train elsewhere, drive from there?
