You must admit though Elliot played a lot better than we all thought he would.l agree about sorting out the defence & getting the forwards scoring.

He did, but he's not a brilliant 'keeper. Just not as bad as we thought.

We have a habit of making 'keepers look better than they are because they tend to be bombarded with shots, making the odd spectacular looking save more likely

It has now been confirmed that Rob Elliot will be missing beyond the start of next season.

The Premier League kicks off for the 2016/17 season on 13 August 2016 and the Championship a week earlier…

Irrespective of which division Newcastle end up in though, Rob Elliot won’t be available, as it has been confirmed he will be missing at least six months of football meaning October 2016 is the best case scenario for the Irish keeper’s comeback.

With Tim Krul set to also be out beyond the start of next season, Karl Darlow is set to take charge until the end of this season but it would the remain to be seen what Rafa Benitez (or whoever…) will do for the 2016/17 season in these circumstances – Freddie Woodman set for the bench in these last eight matches.

Was Darlow the one who got a game or two and looked like an actor rehearsing for the role of a goalkeeper?

Not looking forward to this.

Looks too much like Steven Taylor to be trusted between the sticks, if you ask me.

Fuckin Mackem tramps. Seeing them cunts go down would be like humping that Wonder Woman from that new Batman v Superman movie.

No it wouldn't, it would be like a recorded episode of Neighbours where Madge needs someone to fix her toilet.

Think you've misunderstood Steve. There's been a conversation about which games are most likely to provide three points and those 4 are from teams around us. Don't think people are saying that we 100% will not win any games outside of those four, nor are they saying that we'll definitely win them. This is Newcastle; we could get 12pts from Man City, Spurs, Southampton and Liverpool, and lose to Norwich, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Swansea.

It's just more likely that the team sitting 19th has a better chance of getting wins against clubs who're also dogshit.

Also, I don't think it's just about desire, Colback had plenty of desire in the derby and was by far the worst player.

Colback had a stinker but he wasn't as bad as Lascelles or Sissoko.

Thought Lascelles was fine, and while Sissoko was poor, it's Colback's thoughtlessness that has cost us 2 goals in the last 2 games. I know he's no Left Back, but both goals came from stupid fouls. He contributed nothing going forward and was comfortably undone by Fabio Borini, of all people.

Not that Lee Ryder is brilliant at his job, but he talks sense here stating Sissoko was the worst player on the pitch. He was staggeringly bad. People who are at the games are generally better judges than people standing in pubs watching while leaning on the pool table.

Lee "I'll give Dummet 6 or better every game because he's a Geordie" Ryder?

Yeah I'll not take his view seriously at all, thanks... Especially when he gives Jack 6 & Moussa 5 despite, by his own admission, Sissoko grew into the game as it went on and your man Colback had to be hooked because he was going to be sent off. To be honest, Sissoko was better at fullback than Colback.

re: the last bit, nice dig but we've all sat next to people at the match who haven't got a fucking clue what they're talking about and we've all stood next to people watching in the pub who've raised an interesting point, so I'll not bite to hard, ta. Oh and even if you were right, given your boycott, should we no longer take your opinions seriously?

True regarding clueless people at the match. I had wor lass one side, and some boiler on the other. I'm not sexist but women and football are about as good a mix as piles and cheap bog roll. Sissoko and Colback are not full backs. Sissoko is our worst player this season I'd let him go for £5m, and 27s was mentioned to Napoli last summer. He was typically horrific against the mackems, first touch of Raoul Moat. Incredible that he gets a game for France.

Definitely let him go in the summer whether we survive or not. Still think we could get a decent amount for him, (he's still a French international in an era of massive competition for the front 6 positions) but another season at Newcastle will be one too many for either party.

Watching a match in a pub is certainly not a good way to judge how well we've played like. There's far too many distractions so you don't pay full attention. You also get a view of the whole pitch (depending on your seat) that you don't get watching on the telly. Of course being clueless doesn't chance wherever you watch a match.

Therein lies the rub. There's a load of people at the match who honestly think "get into them, fuck them up" is the only tactical option when things aren't going your way. Who also think the fault lies with the striker, when in truth the boy's starved of service because the manager has set up with two holding midfielders without a forward pass between them at home to a club who is quite happy to camp on their own 18yd line. Or a bloke who screams at the bench all 2nd half to bring on that young winger that he saw cross a ball once...

There's clueless idiots everywhere, at least at the pub you can have the maître d' escort them off the premises.

Cisse back as well. Although many don't exactly like him, he's one of the few, if not the only one in our team that knows where the goal is. I'd play him up alongside Mitro in future.
