Some of them will realise it’s ridiculous you’d think. But once you’ve committed to that queue you almost have to stay in it. Not only that but pretend it’s all worth it when some news camera is shoved in your face.

Predominantly older and/or right of centre folks, not really sure what it’s all about but the papers say they should do it.
“ It’s about sovereignty…”

This is Quexit, and I can’t wait for them to get it done.

I just walked past but he queue - it goes all the way up past borough market 🤪

Southwark parkrun might have to cancel on Saturday because part of the park is being used - not for the queue itself, but for the additional 3 miles of backup queueing space in case the main queue ends up exceeding 6.9 miles.

Wife's mate is drove down from Yorkshire this morning to join the queue with her 4yr old.

On perhaps a related note, she doesn't believe in vaccinations, thinks Trump should have won their election, thinks Farage is sticking it to the elite and all that shit.

I was wrong to use her half German-ness to suggest she has Nazi tendencies, it's got fuck all to do with her parents, she's just a crackpot.

This has surpassed all expectations of craziness. The thing is, in my real life, almost nobody I know is really bothered. Some of my daughter's friends' parents were a bit upset nut then they are properly active in the CofE so I can sort of understand it, like a catholic when the pope dies. One of my mates travelled to Edinburgh to see the funeral cortege and sent me a slow motion video of it. He has had the piss ripped out of him on my WhatsApp group, taken it okay tbf. Think his family may have military connections (although he certainly doesn't personally). And that's it. School (de facto CofE) and even the kid's brownies and guides not been affected. I think the large silent majority are just sick of it and want to get on. Also suspect there may be a backlash once this period ends.

Has anyone else found this last week absolutely exhausting?

Ive got absolutely no idea why, it just feels like a constant stream of bullshit I couldn't care less about.

It’s the anticipation.

You know that at some point, Elton John is going to fucking murder something from his back catalogue, you just don’t know when.

Draining, tbh.

I've been trying to rationalise with myself over the past week where I stand with all of this. I am neither pro-monarchy, nor anti-monarchy. I think I'm accepting that it is part and parcel of being British and being British is something I am proud of. I'm also accepting that everyone has differing opinions which should all be respected but not necessarily agreed with. I personally find the behaviour of the Celtic fans last night crass and unnecessary but conversely, I find the behaviour of Preston North End and the police who removed the guy holding the 'Not my King' sign totalitarian and completely unacceptable also.

I found myself unexpectedly upset my the news that she'd died and have tried since to understand why. The 'she was one of the only constants in our lives' line has been played to death but I suspect that is partly the reason behind it. Whilst the conduct of some of her family and her support of them in the wake of that conduct is highly questionable, I did admire her. I think she did listen to Blair and adapt following the death of Diana and she had the capacity to modernise the monarchy albeit subtly. Perhaps the other factor is I knew what we were dealing with, with her whereas Charles's style is a bit of a step into the unknown.

In terms of what other people are doing, I cannot for the life of me understand why people feel the need to queue halfway across London to walk past her coffin. I don't truly understand the need for the country to completely grind to a halt for the state funeral either and the coverage from the media channels is completely excessive. That said it is a seismic moment in our history and she is someone who will be missed.
