There is no doubt that he's crooked as fuck but he was being fairly coy in that video. When bungs were brought up he said something along the lines of 'I didn't hear that. You can discuss that when I'm not here'. He also said that he'd need to get the okay from the FA regarding any advisory role. He may just have been clever enough to avoid the sack but obviously he was completely naive and in the wrong, I don't think that this is the massive scoop that the Telegraph are trying to make out.

It's the England manager calling his employers stupid and telling someone that it's easy to get around his employer's rules. Of course it's significant.

I think ewerk has a point mind. I was thinking he would have admitted taking bungs or something but he actually seemed to play it fairly straight. It's embarrassing but the FA surely aren't going to sack him over it.

The only question I have really is if he wasn't giving them information on how to bypass the rules, just saying it could be done, what exactly did he think he was meeting them for?

He said they were "stupid" for spending the money on the Wembley redevelopment.

“They [the FA] stupidly spent £870 million on Wembley, so they’re still paying that debt off."

It's hardly the end of the world. Especially considering that most of the head figures responsible for Wembley are probably gone now.

This was a preliminary meeting before signing the fictitious £400k contract. No doubt if they'd actually paid him the money then they'd have gotten much more detail.

I guess that's the dubious thing then. He has tacitly condoned third party ownership by even entertaining this.

I think if it was further into his tenure they might do something about it, but this soon it would just be a massive embarrassment and a very costly mistake. I don't think the FA have the stones to do much about it.

I dunno, I think I'd rather see him fail miserably in the job.

I think it would be funnier that he finally gets the top job he was always going on about it then has it pulled from under him because of his owb greed. If he were to fail footballing wise he would blame everyone else and never accept that it could be down to him.
