Ref probably thinks he's supposed to split the first half stoppage over the 2 halves.

Would it surprise anyone at this point?

Thank fuck for that.

Feel bad for Rafa.  Imagine being so meticulous, so knowledgeable about the game and having some clueless, unimpeachable fuck-knuckle do something like that?

I know man

There's getting nowt off the ref - which is frustrating and then there's Refs actively taking the piss and making a name for themselves which has happened several times this season.

He's easily taken 10 hours off the life of a demi-god here.  Surely that's grounds for hanging a mere mortal?

Fair play to him for manning up, in all honesty.

Am I allowed to say that any more?  Selfing up?  Cising up?

Still don't understand why if the fourth official told him it was wrong he couldn't order a retake at that stage as play hadn't restarted. No different to giving a free kick after signalling a goal only for the flag to go up.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live, former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher added: "I saw the incident briefly on television.

"Well, unfortunately there was an encroachment and he has focused on that. Keith Stroud has lost a bit of concentration because the penalty should have been retaken.

"Unfortunately, yes, he has misapplied the laws of the game.

"It's an unfortunate error during the game, one which he will be very upset about.

Bless him, he'll be very upset about it...??!?! That bloody idiot went on to officiate a massively important game for another 60 minutes after that. Unreal

Thank fuck we won after yet another completely ridiculous referee. Surely the ref has to think to himself if that was the rule why the fuck would any attacking player go near the box? If a free kick the other way was given any time there was encroachment barely any pens would result in a goal until attackers stopped trying to charge in.

I'm not even giving the bloke any respect for "owning up" as it's easy to do when we went on to win the match despite his pathetic display. As I said earlier in the thread the bloke shouldn't be allowed to ref another game until he takes some sort of refresher course as he clearly has an issue with his knowledge of the rules. The most concerning part for me is what others have brought up, that he had a discussion with the other officials and was no doubt told it was a re-take not a free kick for Burton but pressed on with his ridiculous decision anyway. If you've never seen it before it's likely not a rule tbf.

Anyway fuck the officiating in this shit league, thanks to Rafa and the lads we'll most likely not be seeing it next season. Good home win to put us back top, completely dominated the game by the look of the stats and going off what I heard 1st half (wasn't able to listen to the 2nd half, I'll no doubt watch if the club hoy the game up on their site). As people pointed out this one was bound to be narrow as Burton were always likely to spend 90 minutes lined up on their goal line, which is what they pretty much did. Roll on next match tbh.

I've seen today that we could have actually demanded the match be replayed had we not won. Unbelievable stuff. Anyway, we can be happy with the result which moves us to within 4 wins of the Premier League. If we win in Sheffield I think we're virtually there.
