Software/Apps you couldn't live without

Couldn't find a thread on this.

I'll start with StrokesPlus:

Heavily customisable mouse gestures for Windows.  I've tried a few of them, and this is the only one that offers the depth I need through a simple scripting language.

The basic idea is that you hold down the right mouse(or other if you prefer) button and draw a symbol to perform a task.  Some of the ones I use most regularly (these are all modified with a right click):

-Volume up/down with scroll wheel

-Draw up to open new Chrome tab from anywhere

-Draw down to minimise any window

-Paste with left click

-Control music/movies being played

-All tab functionality in browser

I'd recommend at least trying these out for your browser (there are extensions for Chrome/Firefox at least).

If anyone wants help with scripts, I'll do my best to help.

Some simpler/more obvious ones:

GreenShot. In simple terms I have it setup to hit PrntScrn, select area of screen, automatically upload to imgur and open it in a new tab.

Evernote.  My entire life is stored in this app.  If their cloud was deleted I'd be fucked.  I use a "Getting Things Done" system to stay on top of things with it.

You've blatantly got what Stephen Hawking's got.

For sleep cycle do you still have to have it lying under your pillow or whatever? That's what put me off previously.

Nah, just leave it charging and then put it face down on your bedside cabinet. That's how the iPhone does it anyway, maybe others are different.

Sky Go is a right fuck on now on my laptop.  It doesn't work on Chrome any more or the newest version of firefox.  I barely us it anymore other than on my phone but I was wanting for the new series of the Trip last night and I couldn't get the cunt working.

Tasker for Android.

Amazing utility, even now that Android has incorporated a lot of the functionality it was used for in the past, still does stuff like:

-plays a Spotify playlist of your choice instead of an Alarm

-kills that annoying 'max volume' warning and stops it turning the sound down when you plug in headphones

-shake flashlight without needing an extra app running

-turn volume to max, turn on DND and open music player when headphones are plugged in

-do the inverse when headphones are plugged out

Sounds like it's straight out of the profanisaurus like :D

It's steep but it's actually canny good. Wouldn't say it's a lifesaver however

Greenshot is cool

I use Google Keep which is similar to Evernote.

i had a "new fashioned" the other day: rye whiskey and bitters mixed with marmalade instead of sugar and served with a candied orange slice. very passable it was.
