This has brought back memories of Blaydon saying Newcastle should look at the latest prospect from Wollongong Wolves, in one of those moments where he'd forgotten he'd told people he wasn't still in Sydney but actually working as an apprentice journalist at the Evening Chronicle

Erm there’s basically only one pro team to choose from. And even then I’d advise you not to bother.

Theres no way I'm not having a team so I guess thats how its going.

Fuck West Ham, throwing porn money around like they are a big club. Lascelles wouldn't sign anyway, why would he?

Fancy making an insulting offer like that, I can't think of anyone else that would do that. :D

Happy that it looks like we're signing Kenedy, albeit on loan. Underwhelmed with Ki to be honest.

I concur we definitely needed 1 maybe's 2 proven prem strikers if we're to push on though doubtful I know but we can hope.

They play in the A-League, so there are Aussie teams to pick :aussie:

I thoroughly recommend Perth Glory (yes, I know, rubbish name) for NUFC-like disappointment :)

Various rumours about that we're negotiating with chelsea for the permanent transfer for an "unnamed" chelsea player as well as the Kenedy deal.

Because you piqued my interest, @zerosum:

In the Middle Ages weak ale was the universal beverage among the poorer classes, and so cheap as to be drunk like water, whereas water itself was only doubtfully potable. The surname was perhaps a joking nickname given to a pauper or miser allegedly unable or unwilling to afford beer, or may have been given in irony to an innkeeper or a noted tippler. Compare French Boileau, German Trinkwasser.

French: from the Old French verb boi(re) ‘to drink’ + the definite article l’ + eau ‘water’, hence a nickname, perhaps for a teetotaler, perhaps for a drinker, or perhaps for someone who was so parsimonious he was prepared to run the risk of drinking water.

So there you have it; his nominative ancestor/s either didn't drink alcohol, did drink alcohol or drank water. ;)

I like the original explanation though.

  Well I'm glad I decided to go incognito for that.

Might have to give it a proper "look" later on. :good:
