Kompany will get goal of the season because of the context and the fact that people’s memories only stretch as far back as Sky tells them but Schaer’s was a better hit. Was Townsend’s volley against Man City this season? Arsenal scored some unbelievable team goals nearer the start of the year. As a pure goal, Kompany’s is a way behind a few other standouts.
