Contrast that with us over the same period of time- we've yo-yo'd between ownership, let alone CEOs (probably about 7 of them), our stadium and traning ground still need signifcant debt, we've turned over as many, if not more managers and we've one one trophy.

Levy is a cunt, but the continuity of him in charge helped elevate Spurs commercially way beyond us.

I think they look good by comparison because we had a complete cunt as an owner who decided hollow out the club and use it like a billboard for his shitty downmarket sports shops; a man whose sole ambition was to keep us in the premier league whilst spending as little money as possible on it.

someone just needed to act as a pacemaker by running ahead of him with a bottle of pinot grigio and a rotisserie chicken and he'd smash his PB

I know it's Andorra, but Anderson's having a canny debut. Looks like he's been there for years.

Playing catch up but I was discussing this with a load of fans of other clubs who were unanimous in the view that Anderson is the prime example of why PSR isn't fit for purpose.

Most of us on here are old enough to remember home-grown talent such as Waddle, Beardsley & Gascoigne being sold for (almost in the case of Pedro) pure profit - but we did so against the backdrop of needing to maintain the balance sheet / pay for the Milburn stand. However painful it was to see them walk out of the door, we could accept that it was done in the interests of the club. Anderson's exit was of no direct advantage to us - it's to satisfy a fucking bean counter at the Premier League HQ.

Someone did suggest that in signing Ramsey, we've benefited from it as well as lost out, but it's not the point - it shouldn't be happening to start with. Where is the incentive to develop your academy?

Can't remember the details but didn't Purslow propose a simple, and effective amendment which would stop the need for clubs to find it necessary to flog off their talent?

I don't think many 'accepted' those sales at all.

I wouldn't even say that. We got done off the 'independent tribunal' for Waddle as well, the cunts.

He proposed excluding the wages of home grown players from PSR calculations but that wouldn't make a massive difference. Anderson would have been on say £20k pw? So that added a million per year to the wage bill. It wouldn't have touched the sides when it came to our PSR black hole.

I'd almost forgotten about the independent tribunal board - the Bosman ruling put paid to that.

Didn't we get done in the opposite way when we signed Quinn from Portsmouth as well? Ended up paying way more than we planned to.
