Yeah, absolutely. Which goes back to your point. If it’s so bad they’re buying a football club people should be absolutely outraged they’re our main allies in the Middle East, we sell arms to them, allow them to own loads of property/land in London etc. What people are really pissed off about is our potentially having loads of money to spend (specifically more than anyone else). We’ve speculated, when the deal looked dead, about how different it would’ve been were it Man Utd instead. The deal would’ve been waved through over a year ago with the focus being all about their rightful return to the top of European football

Yeah. I feel a distaste for the whole set up of football, not just us. In fact beyond that, as you say, the entire way this and other countries operate. So it may as well be us. Plus, I still have 2 season tickets. ;)

Labour levels of navel gazing here from Gloom. Just enjoy it you miserable fuck, god knows we've gone through enough bad times to allow us to enjoy a little bit of happiness.

tbf, i've felt like this about the saudi takeover since the takeover rumours first kicked off last year.

i am excited about having a football team to be proud of again, and the thought that my little boy might start showing an interest. I subjected the poor sod to so many newcastle games, i was worried i'd more or less put him off football for life.

I have put the kettle in the fridge.  Snapped at a phone call when I was typing a reply on here.  Now I need to go into a meeting FFS.

yeah, the hypocrisy is nauseating. it's not like football fans get to choose who owns their club.

the thing is any success we have now will always be intertwined with this unpleasant regime. will that take the edge off the ride that is coming our way that CT alludes to?  I guess we'll have to wait and see.  if you ask the chelsea or man city fans the majority will say fuck no

Well that’s the other thing isn’t it? With Ashley we were essentially powerless and the general view was we should suck it up because we’re ‘only Newcastle’, we never win anything etc. Now it’s up to the fans to take a stand on moral grounds? Fuck right off tbh. We’re still completely lacking in any say about the ownership.

I tend to agree re: any future success (with the caveat I would never assume it’s coming even if we start breaking the world transfer record - because it’s NUFC). I think I’ve stated before I would welcome the investment in the area and would love to see my laddies supporting a team that’s actually good to watch etc. It’s definitely going to tinged with an uneasiness about the Saudis. I think even more so though it’s the fact I won’t really care as much as if we’d achieved our dreams in the 90s under KK. Apart from being a miserable old cunt, the Ashley / apathy factor, I just can’t get too arsed about top level football and what it’s become any more. Either way I’ll take it over what we’d have to look forward to under Ashley, Charnley and Bruce

I’ll take my lead from the PL- this isn’t about human rights, it’s about broadcast rights.
