“I asked him about Staveley. He thought she was messing him around and wasn’t 100% committed. He personally thought she was not interested (in buying NUFC) and said he was ‘not interested’ in dealing with her even if she comes back with an improved offer.

“I asked him if there was any other parties involved. He said Staveley was the only one who came forward, but said that deal was ‘off completely’.

in characteristically inelegant style

Probably the nicest thing anyone's ever said about him by anyone other than professional cretin, CT.

I fail to see how any increase in TV income would have pumped up Ashley's asking price. " You're going to have to pay more for this car/house/chicken shed because you may get earn more when you own it" doesn't make any logical sense to me :cuppa:

Any business is likely to be worth more if it can increase its revenues, just as we'd be worth less with reduced revenues in the Championship. However, what we've seen from the current TV deal is that once revenues jump the costs of transfers and wages also jump so it isn't like we'd have been able to start generating bigger profits suddenly. Either way I'm not sure we'll see this deal back on again.
