The coast is clear. God bless Tory bloodlust.

i know it's not his specialist subject, to say the least, but i'm desperate to read the knight ryder's take on this latest development

Saw that earlier, has he deleated it now?  He’s an amoral Tory cunt. He called it “only a trade deal” when someone very gently advised him that his choice of words was on the poor side. It’s better when there’s no news to be honest, when I think about it I just get fuckin angry

We're all assuming that the hold up is being caused by the PL but it's a two way process. The PL are maybe waiting for the Saudis to fulfil conditions that would allow the takeover to happen. I'm pretty confident it isn't simply a case of the PL procrastinating.

I get the feeling it's continuing to be on message and act on piracy until the end of the season.

At least if it is as "simple" as that it's only another 2 or 3 weeks.

Waiting until the end of the season would fuck us up for next season. We need to get a new MD in and a scouting team together that has an idea of what its budget is. What we don't want is the takeover to happen and for them to have only a matter of weeks to buy new players.

In the grand scheme of things, even tough we think NUFC is the most important part if this, it isn't. The TV rights are hugely a more important issue to sort out than our ownership, and hugely complicated, financially and politically. We are on the market for 300m, its chickenfeed compared to the TV rights

Of course the PL are holding this up, they want to protect their broadcast rights. They can keep delaying the findings of the O&D test until KSA show legitimate change and/or bid on the MENA rights, OR PIF get sick and fuck it off entirely.

If it's the latter you can guarantee piracy in that region will go unchallenged, if not actively supported by the regime.

Yeah that sounds about right tbh, it's the only leverage they're ever going to have. Presumably the PL has been on standby about this for possible years and has a roadmap to get what they want out of it. The fact that the Saudis haven't walked away yet is encouraging on this front.

What is maybe a bit disconcerting is that if the Saudis are having to jump through hoops for the PL at this stage, it suggests that they were unaware of certain aspects of this process that they would be challenged on... which seems inconceivable to me in a business arrangement like this. You'd expect that, unofficially and behind the scenes before this even started in earnest, the Saudis would have spoken to the PL about what might be involved. So either this is all planned or they've been blind-sided by something.

No doubt in my mind that they expected the piracy issue to be an obstacle, they may have underestimated it's scale, but any half-decent counsel would surely have flagged it as an issue that would need attention.
