Talkshite also saying Lallana’s on the plane. Here’s Southgates last 27 man squad from March; He’s naming 23 tomorrow. So take out the Ox & Hart and he’s dropping 2 players from this list:

Dele Alli, Ryan Bertrand, Jack Butland, Lewis Cook, Eric Dier, Joe Gomez, Joe Hart, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Jesse Lingard, Jake Livermore, Harry Maguire, Alfie Mawson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope, Marcus Rashford, Danny Rose, Raheem Sterling, John Stones, James Tarkowski, Kieran Trippier, Jamie Vardy, Kyle Walker, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, Ashley Young

 Delph is in even though he's been at left back all season. Only three recognised centre halves which means Walker, a fine attacking full back, is going to be stuck at centre half. Lallana is in having struggled for fitness all season. That's the crux with England; they'd rather take a crocked Liverpool player than an in-form Newcastle player. Square pegs, round holes, boring football, early defeat, rinse, repeat

Madam Lallana (that autocorrected but it’s staying) who got sent off in an u23s match on his way back to fitness for losing his shit and trying to fight a kid.

shelveys temperament though

The Beeb's analysis of the CB selection dilema.

Quote

Cahill, however, has not been a regular for Chelsea this season and the 32-year-old with 58 caps was dropped for the March friendlies.

Southgate will go with a three-man defensive system, with Eric Dier potentially dropping in and vying with the likes of John Stones, Phil Jones and Harry Maguire, so Cahill will have serious anxieties about whether he is about to have time called on his England career.

Not to mention Harry Maguire who tried to spark Gayle out the other month. It's almost like that whole line is a flimsy excuse to mask something else.

 Exactly. See Newcastle on Facebook put up a post saying Jonjo hasn’t received a PL booking in 2018. It’s just a convenient excuse because Southgate would have no idea what to do with him tactically.

It’d be refreshing if a manger picked players on merit instead of going for whichever shite plays for the “big six”

Hey, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Also, if it is broke then don't fix it.

Seems to be the England mantra.

Aye, all the talk seems to be that Cahill isn't going. Good.

When Dire and Horrenderson are knocking it square to eachother on halfway at 0-0 in the 70th minute of the Tunisia game we'll be crying out for Jonjo mind! Get him on the plane.

I’ve been looking, is John Stones the closest thing we have to a playmaker?

You laugh but he'll probably end up in central midfield.

Has Kane been dropped due to concerns about his temperament? @PaddockLad

Yes. Southgate will tell a packed press conference this afternoon that Kane has  been dropped for leaving one on Lejeune at sjp in August. The Frenchman was left on the sidelines till Christmas. Also Souhgate believes that communication is difficult with a player who plainly talks as if he has another lads cock (and possibly as set of bollicks) in his gob :good:

I hope so because he’s not a centre half. Then again, you’ve got to make room at centre half for Kyle Walker, an attacking right back

Thing is, Walker is perfect as a RWB in that system. So he plays him at centre-back in a 3, where he can do a job but is no better than about 6 or 7 other players we have in that position

Harts been told hes not going apparently, maybe there is some hope after all.

Has Shelvey been told he's not going? Why do certain players ' deserve' to be told ,probably through a phone call from the manager, that they are not included in a squad. What's the criteria.

Maybe he has but he's not some fanny who goes whingeing to the press about it straight away

Exactly. As a side note, Southgate has been told he’s keeping the job no matter what. So, what, we’re supposed to hope that he magically learns things like “play players in their right positions” in the highes pressure environment imaginable? He’ll be in an adult nappy by this time next year
