For me not one member of the ensemble cast of Platoon was out of place. Full Metal Jacket is one of those films I unfortunately keep missing.

Corey Glover is canny good in it. He was the lead singer in Living Colour but I don't think I've seen him in another flick. Tom Berenger as the nasty pasty sergeant is brilliant in particular I thought.

The Beat That My Heart Skipped.

Very good. Not quite up there with The Consequences of Love in terms of low key european gangster films, but engrossing nevertheless. Tom is brilliant. It's not often that you want the hard man anti-hero to not shoot the bad guy in the face and go home to practice his piano for his audition instead.

The Shooter - A complete Bourne rip off but with all the good bits taken out.

Talking of Bourne rip offs, I saw the trailer for the new Bond film today, how desperate.

I know what you're saying Jimbo.

Got to say though, the cinematic style in the new Bond movies, Bourne (amongst others) is pretty engaging and while they've taken the Bourne story as far as it can go (before it gets ridiculous) I'm happy to see other characters, in other situations using a similar style of filming.

I agree, I love the Bourne movies and enjoyed Casino Royale more than any other Bond film, but enjoyed it for its Bourne qualities (which is no bad thing), they seem to be imitating Bourne now rather than following the Bond formula.

Roger Moore Bond movies are the best though.

I'm with you Alex, its popular opinion to say Connery was the best Bond.

Quite like Dr. No(wt) but the Moore ones are totally tongue-in-cheek. He's fucking ancient in View to a Kill like. Puffing and panting his way up the Eiffel Tower after Grace Jones.

didn't enjoy the Moore Bond, too camp and not the Flemming Bond I imagined at all.

Connery and Brosnan and now Craig for me like.
