I think perhaps I've given it slack because I think the overall message concerning mental health was important if a bit crudely done in places, but I can see where you're coming from. Not really, not in this film. Killing the three arseholes on the train and the subsequent reaction from Bruce's dad ignites a bubbling anger in the city. The clown mask becomes the symbol of the downtrodden masses rising up against the established elite. Just like the mask in 'V for Vendetta'. When Joker then goes on to admit to the murders on tv, then murder the talkshow host he is seen by some as the spark that lit the fire. Up until now the clown mask is the symbol, now he's the symbol. It's a PG rating but was pretty fucked up!
