Children of men. Crap really I wanted to like thjis because it is arty and indy but it was shite. And if I find out who played the Geordie I am going to hunt him down and "kill him" (in a Dr evil voice)

An opinion I cannot comprehend.

Mysterious Skin - following the lives of 2 boys who were sexually abused as children by their little league baseball coach. One of them is played by the kid off Third Rock From The Sun which I never watched but who I thought was shit in Brick and is equally shit in this. He was nominated for a few awards, but I never buy him pretending to be a dark, brooding, cool guy. The other fella who convinces himself aliens abducted him and probed him rather than face the facts is far more interestingly played. Interesting rather than entertaining.

Rosemary's Baby & The Tenant - A Polanski double bill, I liked Rosemary's baby and thought Mia Farrow was great, but I thought the Tenant was better in every way. Why is Rosemary's Baby the more appreciated of the two? Another question, what is it with Polanski and Piano's? If the film isn't directly related to a pianist, you get unreferenced neighbours playing them?

Caught most of the Metallica doc 'Some Kind of Monster' on More4 last night. Unintentionally hilarious. Lars Ulrich comes across as an even bigger tosser than I'd previously thought he was. How seriously do they take themselves man?

The Black Dahlia. It seems to be a film that really divides opinion with some loving it and many hating it.

Personally I thought it was really good. Not in the same class as Chinatown or LA Confidential (the most obvious comparissons) but few films are tbh.

The film looked fantastic and was pretty well acted by the four main leads, none of which are particular favourited of mine.

There are some silly elements (the reason for the murder somewhat implausible) but I thought it was a good noirish thriller overall.

The Tenant is a superb film. Quite amusing in places as well.

Have you seen Repulsion? I watched it a few weeks back, and I think it might possibly be my favourite Polanski. Well, that or Chinatown. Catherine Deneuve gives such an intricate performance. I'd be interested to know what you make of the very last scene (if you've seen it).

Polanski is a brilliant actor (in The Tenant) too.

I've not seen Repulsion, no. Just got (and finished) this box set, now this one is on order, I'll be going for this one last.

Yeah I think that has been a major critiscism of the film

What are the films in that second set?

I realised that I've seen very few of Polanski's films, only Chinatown and Frantic (which was quite disapointing) I think.

I think it's allegedly rather than technically. Never actually got to court iirc.

Allegedly a paedophile to boot.

The second set contains Bitter Moon, The Ninth Gate, Macbeth, Tess and The Pianist.

Watched The Prestige last night, it's a while since I've been left that impressed by a movie; fantastic.

I want to see this. Is it out on DVD now then?

Next month I think. It's on me list like.

I stole it, as usual. I don't live in your strange world of shiny discs.

I will have to pay for this one, though, them's the rules.

Eddie Murphy Delirious - "Your wife's a Bigfoot, isn't she? Isn't she, Gus? That's why the bitch's moustache is so motherfuckin' thick... 'cause you shaved the bitch down and taught her to speak. I know a motherfuckin' Bigfoot when I see one! Don't bring a Bigfoot into my home, Gus! With my children? The bitch can't talk, she can't walk a flight of steps! She's not trained well, Gus! She can *not* walk steps! I bet she climb the fuck out a tree, though, don't she, Gus? Doesn't she? But you got to not bring her around here - fuck her! And your motherfuckin' children? They're Bigfeet, too. They're half-Bigfoot, Gus, 'cause the motherfuckers is 6 years old and have Afros 17 inches long. They're little hairy motherfuckers just like their mother. Look at the motherfuckers! You know how I found out they was a Bigfoot - when I realized your kids was a Bigfoot? When I took your kids fishing last week. I put the motherfuckers in the boat, Gus, and I took the worm and I put it on the hooks. And they both sat there, and they put their poles down in the motherfuckin' boat, and slammed their faces in the water for 2 minutes! And I think, "What the fuck are these kids doin'?" Then they start moving their heads like this and the motherfuckers come up with fish! I jumped back and said, "Can you believe this motherfuckin' shit?" Then the kid took the fish out his mouth, looked at his brother and said, "Guni-gugu!" Normal kids don't do shit like that, Gus. But I'll tell you somethin', motherfucker. You can take your motherfuckin' hairy, fatass, wife-moustache-bitch out the fuck, you can go upstairs and get the motherfuckin' dog, and scoop up the shit, and take Eddie, and get these long Angela-Davis-Afro-wearing motherfuckin' kids of yours, and put them in the "Guni-gugu" mobile and get the fuck out! And if my wife don't like it, she can get the fuck out, too!" <_<

Combover: the Movie - The hair on that last bloke he meets is extraordinary.

The Prestige was class like. Best film I saw last year, and that includes The Departed and Children of Men.

Aye was superb. Don't know if i'm repeating myself from earlier in the thread, but we went to see Casino Royale at the cinema, was sold out so ended up seeing The Prestige. Had never even heard of it, but it was the best film i'd seen that year.

Watched the Pursuit of Happiness last night, pretty shit really.
