Newcastle United official announcement:

‘Newcastle United will take on Portuguese side SC Braga in a pre-season friendly at the Estádio Municipal de Braga on Wednesday, 1st August, with kick-off at 7.30pm.

It will be the Magpies’ penultimate fixture ahead of the new Premier League campaign, and their second to take place in Portugal, with a trip to FC Porto’s Estádio do Dragão scheduled for Saturday, 28th July.

United will stay in the country between the two fixtures before returning home to play FC Augsburg at St. James’ Park the following Sunday.

Braga finished fourth in last season’s Primeira Liga, and also made it to the last 32 of the Europa League, where they were beaten by eventual finalists Olimpique de Marseille.
