The Entirely Reasonable Potential Transfers Thread

 This is becoming very close to the “just can’t get him over the line” banter.

It’s almost exactly the same as the way the Botman deal was reported. Can we just get some more realistic targets in? Surely someone is willing to sell like Gladbach who Isegrim pointed out. Why the fuck are our lot being so focused on certain players rather than trying to improve the team?

Ant, I’m proposing 12 hour bans for Wyki every time he mentions a Twitter fantasist. I expect this to be pushed through fairly sharpish

He will go straight to HR and complain about people being mean to him.

The lads absolutely deluded, thinks he is world class and wants his pay to match that at Barcelona despite the fact he is constantly injured and hasn't managed to post double figures for goals or assists in a season since signing for them five years ago.

Hes constantly late for training and seems to be more interested in being a pretend super star than actually working hard enough to be a real one.

Dembele isn't worth the hassle. He's reportedly asked Barca for a weekly wage of roughly 650k, and they've understandably baulked at that number hence why they're trying to get rid of him.

650k a week? 🤣

why the fuck not?

Not sure why some of you can’t work out that a lot may happen in the last couple of days of this window when selling clubs have their hands forced or we get ultra desperate. This thread is largely a waste of bandwidth till then

Happy Tuesday :cuppa:

This does make sense when we aren't dealing with release clauses to be fair.

If our first offers were being accepted straight away people would be saying we're naive and overspending on players.

Whatever happens we're definitely naive. We also need to overspend on players because we don't have the luxury of time.

That is not that true.

We only have one more game in January at this point, which is in four days, then we have nothing until the 8th of Feb.

If we end up needing to wait until near the end of the window to get deals done or force them through then that's ok really, not ideal but if we sign anyone now they're not that likely to have a lot of training time before needing to be chucked in against Leeds, which will have limited benefits.

Time is quickly passing.  I can see one more person coming in and that's it.

Apparently howe want's to spend the final week of the window looking at loans.  FFS That should be done in parallel

I appreciate that we don't want to set precedent of massively overspending, but they have to be aware of our particular set of circumstances and accept that we are going to have to pay over the odds because we're;

  • in the relegation zone
  • are a Premier League club
  • are the richest club on the planet.

Loan deals don't tend to become doable until the end of the window.

Coming at it more from the angle that clubs do not want to lose quality players part way through the season and therefore in January you have to pay more than those players may otherwise be worth. That's the unfortunate situation we're in. Add to that that we're odds on for relegation and we also have to pay over the top in wages as well. It sucks but it's the way it is.

Loans are honestly a good shout IF they're match fit.
