does anyone agree that these new traffic lights at the new byker shopping centre is a fucking accident waiting to happen?

who designed the bastards? either fuckin stevie wonder or jade goody is my guess!!

i'd say 99% of the times i've driven down/up the fossway there has been something that could of led to an atroscity.. yesterday for instance after i'd been to "scope" on sheilds road for wor lasses birthday present i was on me way yem wen this fuckin old coffin dodger in a f reg escort cut me up yet again, he must off been at least 100 yrs old & on his way to get his greeting off the queen!!

i tried telling him he was in the wrong with various hand jestures but he just gave me that vacant "i fought in the war for you" look..

if someone isnt killed at these lights before long then i'm a fuckin dutchman.

I know exactly what you mean. On the Fossway if you're going striaght down towards Wallsend I went down the wrong side of the road the very first time I used it, it was lucky there were no other cars about, or then again if there were other cars I wouldn't have done it cos I would have seen them on that side.

And then oin the other side by the Siemens factory, when you go to go straight on now you have to give way to any traffic coming from the retail park, exiting the retail park is operated by lights but not if you're just going straight down, it's just give way. Why don't they put lights up here so whenever the retail exit lane is on red the Shields Road is on green and vice versa. Numerous times i've observed as cars brake at the last minute in the confusion!

Anyway, get anything decent from Scope? I'm off there for her Valentine's prezzie

If you really want to impress her then the Singing Hinny is the place to go, good for a bit of footsie in there too, failing that I'd plum for Belle and Herbs at the bottom of Wacky's street, you've got to have a stomach like the half ton man to finish off the Big English breakfast in there like.

£2.50 for heels, not bad. I find the price of shirts in charity shops a bit steep tbh, seeing as i got a darzer one brand new from Mexx at Royal Quays last night for £4 they want £3 for a crusty old chequey number belonging to an incontinent tramp!

If that's the junction I thin you mean then you're right. I was driving back from the quayside at night a few weeks ago and didn't have a clue where to go. I just stopped in the middle of the junction in the dark muttering what the fuck????

Nice place if you can get a seat. Seems to be a lot of people like to just sit in there all day drinking coffee pretending their extras from Friends ;)

the shields road side is just as bad where theyve put the traffic lights and new road markings in by the entrance to the shopping park.

heading down shields road from the byker end to the wallsend end theres no lights - just a give way. but your giving way to traffic that almost comes from behind you as its comes from the shopping park.

also, when your going from wallsend to byker on shields road theres always some idiot who doesnt get into the correct lane at the lights, and then barges in.

fucking morons - but i agree, there will be a very serious accident there shortly.

If your new to that junction it's pretty difficult to know which lane to be tbf. Bit harsh calling someone an idiot or a moron - reserve that for the designer I reckon.

And no Craig, I don't drive an F-reg Escort. Why?

maybe i am being a bit harsh but theyve tweaked the road markings and road signs since it was built to make it as simple as possible to understand.

Ha! That's true.

Actually a good place to eat on Heaton Road is Khans. I've had some of the nicest currys ever in there.

The only down side is that it's not licenced, so they don't do alcohol, but you can take your own along.

Aye, I come in that way every morning to work and I always get someone in the left hand lane who realises they're in the wrong lane right at the last minute and cut me off. Like Renton says though, it's a design fault really, I only know to get in the right hand lane because I drive through it every morning. I think they'll be an accident with the give way stuff they've done, someone will not realise you have to stop and they'll be a side on smash I'm sure.

One of my best mates bought the place with her (then) bloke when it was just a shell of a place and they did it up. All the decor and stuff is her work and she worked ridiculously hard to turn it into a fab place. Unfortunately relationship problems meant she ended up leaving him and the cafe.
