That line from Redknapp about punditry being harder now because the audience "are armed with more information. Some of it is right, some of it is wrong" had me raging.

Like Howay says, if these experts actually watched us week in, week out, they'd not trot out the clichés and banality.

To me, that's Redknapp's way of saying, "No one used to be able to call us on our bullshit, now people have greater access to information and are proving that most of us pundits have been bullshitting this whole time."

Or something like that...

All pundits, colour commentators and radio host etc aren’t really there to commentate on the game or the teams. They are just there to get interactions from pissed off fans. It gets fans backs up, in turn it makes them ring into radio stations or tweet at sky sports or motd or whatever.

If they were there to commentate there would be one bloke telling people what’s happening, not a gaggle of cunts with shite opinions. Especially at half time when they roll out a whose who of has beens or never beens to tell us we know nowt about football.

If they came out and said what was obvious to anyone with eyes, that we are shite and have gone backwards under Bruce. Everyone would agree, no controversy and no interactions.

They all wear an earpiece with someone passing info.Similar in a way to that cockney prick Motson, who researches then comes out with info that he want’s us to think comes from his memory bank.Motson married a makem which makes him a bigger prick than most. We’ll soon have another cockney prick telling us what we’ve just watched when Chelsea get rid.The balding, nee neck Lampard.

I don't care how childish it is, calling him "Fat" Frank and watching Chelsea fans lose their minds is one of life's greatest joys.

In other words, "people know more than me and can point it out to the world.  It's just not fair".

It’s easier to access stats but fans knowing more than your average pundit is hardly a new phenomenon. It’s always been ex-pros spouting cliches and platitudes. They just weren’t getting called out in social media so didn’t have to argue their case (they don’t now but can’t help themselves)

Or they're happy to blow smoke up the arses of the 'big' clubs that are performing and therefore have the largest number of casual fans.

It's the other part of the pundits bullshit that they basically believe that unless you were a professional footballer your opinion is worth absolutely nothing.  You don't need to be an ex pro to be able to see that what Bruce's team is serving up is absolutely awful anymore than you need to be a Hollywood actor to be able to tell that 90% of films involving Adam Sandler are fucking terrible.

Based on that, I think we'd all like to know which are the Adam Sandler films you like?!

Has Robbie Savage? :dunno:

Not to the standard he thinks he did. He’s an excruciating pundit anyway but on the odd occasion Ive caught bits of him on 5live in the past he pull that chestnut out when the caller made a point he couldn’t counter. He also seemed oblivious to the presenter not being an ex-pro either

Aye it's fucking pathetic.  It's like an accountant asking someone pointing out a an error in arithmatic if they've ever added up professionally.

It also means he's oblivious to the whole point of the job he's doing on a call in.  Or are the call ins supposed to just be for ex pro's to call?

Especially given you just know he’ll be opinionated about a range of subjects on which he’s completely ignorant

I cannot remember the full story but Ferguson was doing a press conference and he said to the press ‘how many international caps have you lot won ‘ 43 ‘ said Jimmy Armfield.

Ray Houghton was the golf ‘expert’ on a talkSHIT programme one night. Now he was, and maybe still is, always using the ‘unless you’ve played at the highest level’ crap whenever he was discussing football. One person rang up his golf programme and asked ‘what do you know, you’ve never played golf at the highest level’.He wasn’t too happy.

There is Alvin ‘ when I played for England’ Martin. Another is,from one ex-player and now pundit to another,....’ you know what I mean’ .It’s all bollocks.Moore and Bobby ‘The makem’ Charlton were shit managers yet both won a World Cup. A supporter who hasn’t ‘played the game’ or been a manager, ref or sports reporter wouldn’t be accepted as a pundit.Simple as.
One has to know one’s place.
