Aye, as Howay was saying, Ashworth seems to keeps his cards very close to his chest regarding transfers. Most of the rumours seem to be originating with selling clubs. When you're actually interested in buying there's nothing to gain and plenty to lose by leaking any information early doors. Ashley era Newcastle they may have seen it as placating the supporters (despite it likely doing the opposite for many) but these days a deal that's wrapped up without the early knowledge of the media is where it's at. That's not to say that I'm expecting anyone, but if won't come as a big surprise if more business is done. As has been inferred it will just be moving the planned signings a little forward. I am hopeful that we can clear out some more bench warmers, though there's a school of thought that says they could be gaining in value as our club collectively improves. Id like one or two in but it's not the end of the world if we can't get them. The Fish 8989 Posted September 1, 2022 Share Posted September 1, 2022 Saw something on twitter suggesting that Howe has money available to him if he wants it, but frankly I can't see us getting involved in the chaos of transfer deadline day unless, as has been said, one of our long-term targets suddenly becomes available at the price we're happy with.
