Gerrard is under a lot of pressure now.

Just had a quick look at their forums. They are calling for his head and want Pochettino to replace him. As if Poch would go there.

Don't they realise he's Liverpools new gaffer? How ungrateful

The money he's spent and the wage bill he's running up as well.

And to think we were all told that Villa had burst our bubble when they got Gerrard.

I was listening to the Athletic Podcast recently and they were saying that Gerrard relies heavily on his assistant for tactics and coaching and sees himself as more of a figurehead (which btw is off the charts arrogant).

Anyway his very highly rated assistant left to join QPR so Villa basically have the same "figurehead" but the bloke doing the tactics and training is the ex Blackpool manager.....so basically their actual manager is Blackpool's old manager.

He's taking the piss. And he's clearly not the figurehead he thinks he is. They're in too deep to get rid of him in a hurry though, which is fucking hilarious.

"Rafa cloned", oof

Bit of perspective on how far we've come in under a year as well.

Testament to Howe's commitment to his own self improvement too. The bloke is only gonna get better.

AND the way the in which management has decided to implement their vision for the club. Careful, deliberate, well planned appointments that all fit in with the vision. None of the knee jerk dramatic, hype based emotional stuff that the Gerrard/Lampard appointments reeked off. The same process is being applied to transfers.

A lot of people will need this perspective as we go through the motions of reaching the club's new aims in the coming years.

I don't even know what Villa fans thought they were getting with Gerrard. He's a 'Liverpool of decades past' tribute act based on who he bought for them - no one particularly decent and plenty quite old.

That said mind, that's entirely the sort of club Villa set themselves up to be. They're a club of wannabes and for all they might level that at us as well, we at least had a period of relative dominance in the Premier League whereas they have always, always been an makeweight. No club of Villa's stature ever becomes good through buying the way they have - they're a poor man's Man Utd.

Sit down and shut up, Gerrard's level is your level, Villa.

Johan Lange: "Hi Maurtio, this is Aston Villa, we'd like to talk to you about an exciting new proposal we have for you."

Poch: "Aston Villa..."el GIF
