I watched the Rome derby earlier on. Superb atmosphere, niggly as fuck with a sending off, a disallowed goal, more coaching sending offs then fuck knows how many sent off after the game finished. Great stuff.

Kalvin Phillips starts for England.

5 subs appearances in the PL, averaging 13 minutes per game.

3 subs appearances in the CL, averaging 13 minutes per game.

1 start in the FA Cup.

1 start in the League Cup.

And he's straight into a starting place for England.

If he’d come here, played a lot of games and done well under Howe, he’d have had less chance of getting a start tonight

Just in the uncapped players alone, Willock, Gibbs-White, Elliott and even Solly Bastard March all have an argument to be in over him. And that’s before you get into Ward-Prowse having the kind of season that would justify a call-up and, for the first time, being nowhere near the squad

You think that’s bad? Jamal Lewis started for Norn Iron tonight.

2 yellows for Shaw in 54 secs sees him off… you’re not being protected playing for Man Utd now ya fuckin prick :cuppa:

I actually felt for him a bit. I don’t think he had much option but to make the second tackle. I also don’t think the referee would have booked an Italian player twice in a minute if the circumstances were reversed. It was a difficult game to referee in that atmosphere though and I think the ref did ok. Ironically, it probably helped England a bit as any thought of attack went out of their minds with the red. I don’t think it’s a vintage Italian side, mind
