Alexander Isak

He's a quality player who will obviously come good for them but, I don't think their style is really set up to get the very best out of him.  Salah isn't Jacob Murphy who would always be looking to set him up.  Salah, whilst clearly someone who creates a lot as well as scoring, is someone who will always look to come inside and even when he's not looking for goal himself, he's going close down Isak's space.  I just don't see him scoring the amount of goals for them that he could have scored here.  I think Arsenal would have even been a better bet for him.

Happy to see him and belatedly them, struggle a bit because they have been the luckiest team on earth for most of this season.

And he hasn't really strengthened the defence. Just feels like he went on a splurge a 15 tear old kid would have done on football manager (if that's still a thing) and unbalanced the squad in the process. Isak adds fuck all to them. The annoying thing for me is if he had stayed settled at NUFC I reckon we might have had a crack at the league.

Which was most likely a factor in them buying him. Not necessarily to strengthen themselves (although they would have obviously welcomed that) but to seriously weaken us.

They definitely bought Etikite AND Isak to stop us progressing as it makes little sense to sign them both when they did. Given their other attacking options as well as their need to strengthen in other areas.

Yeh 100%

If we kept Isak & improved we’d have to have been looked at as title contenders. Apart from the odd spell there were large parts of the season where ourselves & Liverpool were neck & neck in the form table.

In terms of the road not travelled, I think we still would have signed Thiaw, Ramsdale and maybe Ramseyt too, but would we have signed Woltemade? Wissa?

Isak and Woltemade would have been a sight to see.

Its hard to tell about Woltemade - I’m sure I read somewhere he was Eddie Howe’s target as opposed to the wider scouting team.

Ramsey definitely - I think that had been in the pipeline a while judging on Eddie’s PSR comments.

I don’t think we sign big Nick if isak stays. The plan was to get Jao Pedro, Delap or ekitike in to replace Wilson and rotate with then eventually replace Isak. That all changed after Isak downed tools and we were forced to work down our list of targets. Big Nick was fairly low down that list - but he could prove to be a better signing than the likes of sesko. He’s started better. It’s going to take a while to get used to playing with a completely different type of striker but the early signs are positive. I love his confidences. He just needs to get in the box more. The signs were much better on that score against Forest.

Pretty much what we did to Burnley when we bought Wood IMO.

Not dissing Nick in any way, but has he started better, or is he part of a better squad that has integrated him better?

Sesko hasn't become dogshit overnight, he's surrounded by incompetence and a coach that doesn't know / want to know how to adapt.

Was he low down on the list? Because wasn't it known that bayern wanted him so probably stopped us from thinking we could get him.

Aye from what I read/heard, we always liked him but we had assumed he was unavailable/was going to Bayern if he was going anywhere.

I think was not on the list at all for those reasons.

The club took a risk tbf, cos it could just as easily have ended by bringing Bayern back to the table, and us looking like the bridesmaids again.

Fortunately Stuttgart and us were very happy to do the deal completely on the sly.

They were fannying about bayern it seems. Wanting to only pay a fraction of stuttgarts valuation and thinking woltemade wouldn't be swayed to go elsewhere. So we got a call of them asking if we where interested.

That's what I heard too. So it's fact.
