I was the one who included it in the Everton thread title though. What to do, what to do? :scratchchin:

On the bright side, no matter what you do, if it goes tits up we can blame Gemmill

People bithcing about Newcastle winding the clock down are misdirecting their frustrations at their own team. If Spurs had taken their chances, or had found a route around Botman and Schar, if Lloris hadn't surrendered possession easily, if their players were better on the ball, if they created more high quality chances, then Newcastle wouldn't be killing the game off.

As the away team, against a team targeting the CL spots, you'd expect them to dominate possession, spend most their time in the attacking 3rd, and create a good number of good chances.

We had comparable possession ((53 - 47%), more touches in the final 3rd (132 - 176) , better pass completion (78-79%), and although they had more xG (1.57 - 1.13) 0.5 of that came from Kane's goal.

Their Market Value (from Transfermarkt) was £426m for the match day squad. Ours was £287m. That's a £138m difference.

Antonio Conte has won 1 Serie B, 4 Scudetto, 1 Premier League, 2 Supercoppa, 1 Fa Cup.

Eddie Howe has won the EFL Championship, once.

If you're a Spurs fan complaining that Newcastle United time wasted their way to victory a) you didn't watch the game and b) your team should have found a way to win anyway.

The Spurs lads in my local arrived back from the game about 10pm last night. Didn't have much to say aside from we were far the better team and deserved the result.

Was listening to the wireless last night cooking tea.  Goldstein and Bent were talking about players of the weekend.  Goldstein picks Henderson for Forest.  Bent picks Bruno.  Both agreed what a player he is.  I like these two and they do have a laugh and talk sense,  Bur what knocked me was Danny Murphy.  Later I am washing up and he's chatting to that ginger cunt, I forgot his name.  Anyways, Murphy is wanking praise all over us for this weekend.

LOVE IT

There's a really interesting short article on The Athletic about our long through tactics against Tottenham. It's especially pleasing because it's yet more evidence of our manager outsmarting opposition manager's, exploiting opposition weaknesses, and having flexibility within a system to implement targeted gameplans. No wonder we're winning. Our manager isn't just hoping for magic. He's making it happen.

It seems he clearly identified that Lloris is weak at coming off his line (amongst other weakness in our opponents) and developed a gameplan to draw Spurs defenders out, then drop long balls into the space behind them for our front three to get to before Lloris.

The plan nearly worked in the first few minutes with Joelinton. And then it did work for the goal. Really puts into context that we are approaching every games with a specific plan to win. And boy does it make us better because not only does it work tactically, but it also fosters the self-belief that it will work (which is almost more important).

Yeah read that, it's great insight.

I swear I heard Wilson or someone else after the game talk about targeting Lloris. But isn't it nice to see an identifiable style/approach, instead of just "rolling up wuh sleeves"?

Wilson did yeah, they wanted to drop balls behind the defence to tempt him to rush out and it worked like a charm.

Regardless of the personnel on the pitch Eddie always has a plan. The one(s?) on here (that’s you CT :D ) and more to the point the dozens of them on Twitter who are constantly bitching about the likes of Longstaff, Murphy, Fraser etc in a way show so little faith in the manager, no idea of the concept of a transfer window and what is actually achievable in one, and a blatant failure to understand what’s happening in front of them on the pitch. You can spot a poor player? Fuckin well done you. Do you know we don’t need 14 world class players to beat teams in the premier league?  Apparently not… as you can tell , that attitude drives me round the fuckin twist…  at a time when things are so positive they just bring everything fuckin down….

DIer and particularly Lenglet are painfully slow. Dangerous if you play high up the pitch.

I've never seen the hype about Eric Dier. Bang average.

He's always struck me as slow, rash, error prone and not even that great in the air.
