Arsenal were highly motivated as well. And they have Man City to play at home and Villa away. Seems like a  big gamble not to just play your big players. They could have easily got a point tonight with a strong line up.

I totally get what you’re saying btw. But it makes sense to me from a 4 games in a fortnight pov (or whatever) at the sharp end of the season. It would be different if they had a CL chance before tonight. But they only had mathematically. So they’re possibly looking at it from points haul as opposed to just the result tonight. Even 2 games ago and we’re faced with a different starting XI imo

Here is De Zerbi explaining it himself:

The reasoning behind rotation: "Because Welbeck, Buonanotte and Gilmour are the same as Mac Allister, they can't play 90 minutes today and 90 minutes Sunday. I said yesterday in press conference that I have to think in this period of 12 days and not one game because we are not used to playing three games per week and I have to analyse the situation in the best way.

"I think on Sunday we will be with energy and in the best condition. With change or not we have the possibility to score another goal when we were in 2-0. But we have too many injuries and we have to think about this. We are not in the best condition to play four games in 12 days and I had to think in a different way. I think in Newcastle's stadium we can lose the game. I think we needed six points and we are capable of winning two games in the last three."

I thought it was strange he took Gilmour off, as he was all over us after they got the goal back.

Was full of praise for us beforehand too, said we deserved the CL finish.

Maybe RTG is right and he was bought off after all..

I imagine they're absolute beside themselves tbh.

Well yeah, that's what the usual suspects honestly believe. He was bribed. Really.

Man I'm fucking psyched about this one, great fucking result. Dumped all the pressure onto Liverpool and Manure. Superb.

Let them fight it out for our scraps.

Strange too that they'd schedule a friendly with a National team at this point of the season. Definitely something suspicious about this whole shady affair.

Beglin has gone quiet on the comms. Wonder why?

Fucking hate this cunt, always full of sly digs at Newcastle and he has nothing to offer other than the fact he was an average footballer. Cannot understand why he always seems to get the "experts" role for the Toon matches.

What a fucking win, shut him up perfectly.

That many extra games at this end of a long season (after WC) is a significant handicap. Even this extra game for us is not ideal, apart from the result. It's easy to look at the table and think that the extra games are an advantage but they're really not. Thankfully for us it's two home games in a row which really softens the blow.

To Brighton's credit (apart from being floppy nancy boys) the players who came in fit straight into their system and played their regular tactics. Just so happens that they came up against a team that excels at the press that they think they can beat with their play. Steele has good feet and made some great saves, but even he nearly served one up on a platter for us with a highly risky pass in the box.

Miggy was outstanding throughout, his decisive run and well weighted through ball for Wilson to score to seal the win was a nice reward for all of his hard work.

Was at the match tonight. What an atmosphere!

Beat Leicester and we have our 2nd highest points total in our Premier League history

Must have switched the mic of at Sky because it sounded like a morgue. Then I had to pick up the kids up and it sounded very noisy on radio Newcastle.  I'm going on Monday and looking forward to the celebrations (hopefully).

I was in the East Stand/Gallowgate corner and it was rocking for most of the game. Even when we were in the back foot

He tried to give Brighton the reverse kiss of death when that Australian lad came on the pitch at 2-1. He very excitedly said, "he wouldn't would he". No he wouldn't and didn't Beglin you fucking biased ballbag.

WTF was going on with Brighton's GKs btw?

According to Beglin and the other fuckwit commentator, he's the perfect keeper, can play football like Pele and is a great shot stopper (TBF he stopped a few that were straight at him). I'm amazed they were able to even talk the way they were piping him off - would have given your pornstar a run for their money!

This also shows how little Beglin knows about football, Peupion hasn't even made an impression on our national team (and they are desperate to cap any player they can - Souttar being the classic example) and yet he was going to "save" Brighton - fuck off you red scouse supporting cunt.

Btw Australia's best footballing prospect is actually playing in the local national league and is the same size as Enciso but not a diving cheating little sof shite.
