Amorim won't be sacked until they've got out of the period where they'd have to stump up £12m (November I think?).

At that time I reckon there's two options;

1) Stick with Amorim and line up a replacement ahead of the January window

2) Gamble on someone like Carrick, or Solskjaer... someone as an interim for the rest of the season, someone who will be accepted by the fans.

When the shit hits the fan, and they've got the wrong man, that's Scamorim! (Part 3) - Page 24 - Pitchside - Football Forum - THE ANFIELD NOISE

I get the point you're making, but there's no denying Odegaard is a superb player.

I spent 5 years there as a student during the Thatcher/Major years when the place was an absolute dump. And so was Newcastle. Both cities were stereotyped and looked down on more than other northern cities. Both had a stronger regional identity than other northern cities imo. There was a definite affinity between the cities. And still is imo.

So yeah, I will defend the city agonst lazy caricaturing usually propogated by southern wankers, because I recognise it happening to Newcastle too.

That definitely doesn't extend to the clubs now though. Fuck LFC.

 I didn't even criticise the city and you're defending it man!

No I'm not, I'm explaining a possible reason for your wife's position. People claim scousers are professional victims. But historically they were victims, as recently as the 80s. I wouldn't say they were now mind so this is a legacy they need to get over.

city full of feral, self pitying cunts.

The city isn't the problem, the self-pitying cunts with chips on their shoulders whose default position is that the rest of the world is out to get them IS the problem.

Yeah, kind of the attitude which riles up Mrs Fish and why Fish clearly never gets a shag or nosh nowadays.

Anyway, been done to death, Ive got/had  loads of decent souse mates. It's always better to separate the club from the city imo.

Check your history books. Tarzan was against "managed decline" of Liverpool. That was cunts like Tebbit who incidentally also fucking hated the North East. But whatever, fall for the divide and rule if you like. 👍

they were all cunts in every cabinet she formed. I don't doubt they all hated each other.

anyway, none of this distracts from liverpool being a city full of cunts.

here's their mayor talking about heysel's 40th anniversary a couple of months ago. they're incapable of accepting responsibility for their own actions, even now. them smashing down segregation fences and charging at and attacking the italians a mere afterthought.

Mr Rotheram said: "I think it's really important for the club and the people of our city to be represented at the memorial service.

"And for everyone to remember how the event that caused the loss of life was allowed to develop by really poor policing, and a terrible stadium, and lots of problems with organisation.

"But also the part that Liverpool fans played in that, and the fact that some of those people were later jailed for the part they played in that

 Mate, I've said nothing, NOTHING, about the city and look at how defensive you're being. In fact the only thing I've said is that scousers (and those few with some kind of link to the place) are defensive about their city, that it's like a cult.

You're proving my point.

For what it's worth I don't mind the city, it's no different to any other northern city to be honest, with good and bad parts. For me it's the way all scousers (and scouse adjacent) go full testudo whenever there is even a perceived slight on the city or the club. That is different from other Northern cities.

I'm not getting into Heysel with you. British (and for that matter Italian) hooliganism was rife at the time and that stadium was a fucking disgracen, what happenedshouldnt have been possible. What I'm not going to do is condemn a whole city about what some hooligans did 40 years ago, and wish it's extinction based on this. There's enough to hate the club and fans about right now without going back to this.

Its really not. See Sunderland for instance. Scousers have a huge chip on their shoulders because of the huge amounts of investment that have been put into Manchester, just like mackems are with us. Im not condoning it, it's just people being people. Ironically your narrative here plays into the exceptionalism theme, that they are somehow different. Put people into the same situation, you get the same results, scousers are no better or worse than the rest of us. By extension thats also true of the mackems I guess. And piss taking is fine but some people let it slip into hatred, which isn't.

It's not the same man, if you talk to a reasonable mackem or Sunderland fan about the city centre and they agree it's a shit hole. They agree that some mackems or Sunderland fans are an embarrassment, they agree that there are racists. Try that shit with a scouser and tell me what happens?

They are different, and sure maybe it's decades of a feedback loop of that being said out loud, but it's definitely true now.

Put it this way, I worked with a stand up who was highly educated, wasn't a football fan, and came from Formby. He would joke and laugh about anything; his baldness, his bad luck with women, even his dead dad.  But any criticism of Liverpool (be it justified or not) and he snapped back with excuses and explanations (like you are). My wife won't hear criticism without defending the place. Every scouser I've ever met has been this way.

This hasn't been the case with people from Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Hull, Boro, Sunderland. It's not been the case with people from Leicester, Nottingham, Derby. Londoners are arrogant about the capital, but even they'll admit to there being problems with it.
