Holden McGroin 9890
I missed the game (fucking kids party). My mates are suggesting Elanga might be an expensive flop. I have to admit I wasn’t sure about him when we signed him. Hopefully Eddie can work his magic on him.

Way, way, WAY too early to judge, tell your mates to come back in six months.

Murphy definitely crosses much better, and much earlier, than Elanga but there's time for that to be worked on and his pace is mental but we're not using that particularly well yet. wykikitoon 28509
Elanga mid week was a lot better. Forest today I felt he was dazzled about playing against his old team. Williams who he was playing against knows him well obviously so knows how to get the better of him. He needs Eddie to work his magic on his mental ability as well as his physical. He needs to tell him to forget about who is playing against as think about how good he is and can be. Work to them strengths. Knock the ball past Williams today and he's toast.

His defensive work rate was a little lacking at times today. Far too early to write him off, but so far Minteh looks more of an Eddie Howe player.
David Kelly 1837
Dunno if this has been mentioned but I thought it was pretty shit that there wasn’t a minute’s silence/applause for McFaul today. Won the fairs cup with us, played over 290 games and managed us at time when we had jack shit. May not be Shearer or Milburn but I think he deserves a bit more than what we did for him today.

We still haven't really clicked in the league as a team, but we'll take the 3 points thanks. Tonali looked tired today but the targaryens stepped up. Gordon tried but honestly hate to say this did look a bit like the proverbial headless chook. Elanga had stage fright. Thought BFG was class, honestly think we may have struck gold here. Defence rock solid. We're not firing on all cylinders yet certainly. But I can see chinks in the cloud. The break is coming at a good time for us maybe. He seems to only be fast when he's not dribbling, when he has the ball fullbacks catch him. So we really need to be playing balls through for him. If Howe intends to use Wissa with Woltemade then I wouldn't mind him trying to come up with a formation where Elanga plays more central with Gordon and Murphy wide. Gordon was not great in this either but Elanga had a stinker with the ball, so many poor touches. He does have more misscontrols than you would expect at this level but he's still only 23 and we've seen him enough to know that this was not his usual game and he seemed really.unsure if himself, even in deciding when to make runs. Even having a bit of a stinker he managed to combine well with Trippier a couple of times and got into dangerous positions. We have Howe and age on our side for him to improve on all of this.

I feel for him With Hall out with a busted hamstring and Livramento out for a couple of months (at least I would say) we can expect to see a lot more of it. Really Howe should be putting Trippier on the left and trying Krafth and Thiaw at RB. Or even Murphy though he's a bit lightweight in the tackle. Otherwise it's going to turn into a couple of seasons ago where everyone constantly attacked Burn with pace and agility.
toonotl 4681
Overall I'm happy with where we're at at this point in the season considering the pre-season, Wissa's injury, Ramsey's injury, Gordon's suspension & form, and new signings taking time to bed in (Big Nick excluded who has hit the ground running). If it weren't for two last minute injury time goals, we'd be undefeated in the league. We don't look convincing in attack but that'll come with more coaching, training and playing together. Howe may take 6-12 months to work his magic given how late so many of the transfers came in during the window. When Wissa returns, I'd love to see him get some starts at RW with Woltemade as starting striker. Not being too harsh on Elanga. He's trying and it'll just take time for him to get up to speed. But, having Wolt alongside a natural goalscoring winger in Wissa could be an absolute nightmare. Same goes for Ramsey from that 8 position. On past evidence, he seems the most natural goalscoring option from midfield. Those two could add a lot to our goal threat in and around the big German menace.
Christmas Tree 6690
Good ground out win which is all that mattered going into the break. Lovely goal by Bruno and a lovely spot kick from Big Nick, even though I thought it was heading for central station when he kicked it. Much improved game 2nd half, presumably after whatever Eddies version off a hairdryer is at half time. Tonali was everywhere again, Bruno doing well and Nick playing some lovely passes. Unfortunately, all the problem stuff is still there. Gordon looks a shadow of his best performances, Big Joe too and Burn (not his fault) is a liability at LB and will be rinsed by better teams. Even our previously reliable right side is all at sea. Several times Elanga made decent runs, only for Trippier to then play a different pass, raise his arm and apologise. At most other times, Elanga just looked very poor. Too slow to get a cross in, poor in defence and generally like a rabbit in the headlights at times. Eddie can tweak some of these things as players come back (slowly) ie starting Ramsay and giving Joe a break, but so many other areas / individual performances just looked very problematic. That could well be the plan, Wissa is a winger by trade. Could spell the end of Murphy at the club which would be a shame, we improved immediately after he came on yesterday. I said last season he's just about impossible to replace for a reasonable price...

I mentioned earlier if we had one or did I miss it? I totally agree with you, the amount of minute's silences/applause etc we have throughout a season these last few years a lot of the time with fuck all to do with anyone NUFC based and then yesterday nothing? They had black armbands so it's not as if they didn't know. A very poor look in my opinion and it seems unless you played in the 90s with a grandad collar or later on then the club doesn't want to know? Like how they treat some fans it doesn't shine a particular good light on NUFC despite the bullshit some CEOs will occasionally come out with about 'lifeblood' and other sound bites.

Holden McGroin 9890
If Wissa would be deployed as a winger it would be LW. BDB has played LB last 2 games. 2 wins, 2 clean sheets, 1 assist. Forget what you see with your eyes, believe in the stats. Note: Im not counting Arsenal game as he had to play LWB when we conceded. He's one of those players who previous management would react to the frustrations inside the stadium by flogging them off quick and then watch him rock up somewhere like Palace where he starts to rip up trees and we regret ever getting rid of him. Had a bad day at the office although I don't think we're getting the best out of him yet. At some point he'll come good.

Craig 12368
Howe will no doubt work on it, but if we can get Tonali playing balls over the top for him to chase I think we'll reap the rewards.
