@beatty is a mackem spacka.

What I don't get from this is that they are having a decent season.

As a forum, we don't have anything negative to say about Sunderland other than the fun from the Mackem Message Board.

What joy is there coming here and failing to actually get a hook?

People are more annoyed at how stupid they are rather than what they have actually said.

Sitting sixth in the table at the half way point. A few tough away matches to come in the second half but I’d have snapped your hand off for this at the start of the season.

16 points got you in the top 8 last season and you'd suspect it'll be something similar.

2 wins and a draw potentially needed.

Going to have to beat PSV and pick up 4 points away from the 3 games at Marseille, Leverkusen & PSG.

Away form needs to improve considerably though to manage that.

Not the most convincing win but quite comfortable in the end. An under strength Athletic caused us plenty of problems in the first half with their pressing intensity. Not helped by some wayward passing from us / thought we looked quite rattled at times. It was a bit of a stroll by comparison in the second half after the second went in and they tired.

Great to see Hall back. Some lovely touches from him and he always looks to progress the ball. Trippier brought that composure we lacked at the back against West Ham and Barnes looked lively.

Elanga’s rough start continues - he is still struggling to influence the game.

absolute class act. He brings a calmness to the back 4.

Also a perfect example of getting his act together after some poor performances (for whatever reason)

Mind last year 12 points gets us to the playoff round, which is only one more win.

We're looking good to progress.

They interviewed Paul Dummett in the room prior to kickoff. It was a bit depressing at first cos he was talking about how difficult it is training by himself and how he doesn't want to retire yet. alright Paul, keep it light!

Anyway at the end he was asked who the best manager he ever played for was. Eddie Howe, and a couple of stories about how class he is.

And who was the worst.......? A couple of beats of silence and he goes "how's the bacon did you say?"

"Enough said" says the bloke interviewing him.

Had an awful stream tonight so missed loads of the 2nd half, but what glimpses I saw of Hall, he looked superb. Very calm on the ball and always looking to start attacks. Be fucking marvellous to have him fit and playing for the rest of the season.

Aye Hall was class.

Proper concerned about our wingers right now. Barnes looks the best out of the lot at the moment. I know Murphy has scored a couple but his play outside of the box has been shocking generally. Gordon and Elanga the less said the better, we can only hope a goal or something turns it around for them.  Joe certainly looked a completely different player after his goal in the second half.
