music is a matter of taste.

You can't "leave someone be" who has a history of assaulting people and will do it again, don't be stupid.

Surely thats down to the police?

I agree with the sentiment that he's a fuck-up but if everyone who needed it was "locked up for their own good" they'd need even more prisons than in LM's world.

If he starts affecting others (which is the suggestion here) then thats different, though I stand by my "free will" comments earlier but as Lazarus says British prisons aren't exactly smack free.

rather than just let criminals off in NJS's world ?

129751

Never said that - I just don't think the death penalty or your "lock them up and never let them out" works.

I support quite long sentences for murder/rape etc and think drunk driving/causing death by driving is disgracefully unpunished but a lot of the justice system fails miserably for certain crimes no matter how much you increase the sentencing.

everything

parents have a right to know the kind of person that influences their children, in cases like this what the press do is right, the hounding of someone because the may become the next England manager is wrong. The reporting of an arsehole breaking yet another law and possibly carrying out some form of assault is defintely one our newspapers should report.

I didn't say lock them up for their own good, why make this assumption of me ?

As it happens PP has a point, sometimes there is a case for this and it would help him, lots of things can help him or others the same, but if he is actually proven to have injected heroin into that girl then it carries a 10 year sentence and I hope the wanker gets it.

If he doesn't, he's going to get banged up for something else anyway. And when he does, I hope he gets the living shit kicked out of him, it might knock some sense into him.

As for the death penalty, I wouldn't blink an eyelid if those twats at the subject of this thread were all executed. If it serves as a deterrent to others and saves just one life of someone else accordingly its justified.

Some people could also justifiably say why should we the taxpayers pay for such scum to even be kept alive in prison rather than dropping them out of a plane over the Channel with a brick tied to their bollocks.

I just meant that the pressure on the prisons if you "got your way" and then a new lot were added in "for their own good" as suggested by someone else would be quite severe.

Death penalty deterrents don't work because nearly all murders are spur of the moment/unthinking acts of passion/stupidity. Those that aren't eg terrorsim are carried out by people who wouldn't care or would in fact relish martyrdom.

Its immoral barbarism in my opinion.

Shagging Kate Moss is one thing - being on the edge of self-destruction through stupidity is nowt worth glamourising.

I know a lot of "talents" take drugs which I don't really care about but Doherty is just an idiot - I don't just mean the drugs per se but a couple of his arrests have obviously been as a result of celebrating his court appearances with more smack - as I said thats just stupid.

If you do think he has musical talent then surely you should bemoan its waste?

If we need more prisons, then we should build more prisons. We've said this before, some things are worth more income tax. If we see it spent on the right things like this, NHS, education and can see the improvements and not red tape everywhere.

"Nearly all" murders may well be spur of the moment, but even one that isn't is one life too many. This murder etc in the other thread wasn't spur of the moment, it is an act of sheer evil by scumbags.

As for the martyrdom idea, some no doubt would. In that case ie OK keep them alive, and force feed them bacon fat sarnies every day, make them break rocks 16 hours a day, deny them their poxy prayers, drill their teeth with a black and decker when they need a filling...I'm sure you get the idea. Give them a life of utter misery, so the other wankers who think they want to follow them will see what they will get if they think they can go around murdering innocent civilians going about their everyday lives.

only if we go around planting bombs in planes or buildings in retaliation

If they haven't got the guts to fight their "war" in the open, against opponents ready for them, fuck them. That is stooping to their level, not preventing them from blowing up more of us

The reality of prostitution is the Kings Cross/Eastern European women etc and not 'high class' escorts. The concept of women having the choice to sell their bodies is also illusory. Reseach shows that the majority of prostitutes were sexually abused in childhood/are homeless/come from troubled backgrounds - they don't have the same choices that women from happy and secure backgrounds have. I'm sure that women who work as prostitutes didn't dream of selling their bodies to sweaty, desperate old perverts when they were growing up and given a real choice, wouldn't be today.

I'd also dispute the notion that prostitution even if 'off the streets' harms nobody. The existence of prostitution damages all women indirectly.

129934

I agree to an extent but would say that I was trying to argue that the "reality" end of the market is very sad and does men no favours but it tends to be drug driven in the first place.

I'm not saying high class escorts are in anyway "noble" or the men any less sad but I think its a lot more civilised than the majority and a controlled environment ran aong similar lines would work and save a lot of women from abuse.

I've always considered prostitution to be an endightment on the sadness of the male gender rather than any slur on women but unfortunately its always been part of nature.

I do think your "harms all women" pov is overstated though - I don't think all women

have a price and the existence of it doesn't make me think any less of women least of all the ones involved.
