Spurs game in doubt after illness

Recommended Posts

Spurs' crucial game at West Ham is in doubt after several of their players went down with food poisoning.

Martin Jol's side will clinch the fourth Champions League place if they win at Upton Park, although Arsenal are also still in contention.

Premier League spokesman Dan Johnson said officials are on their way to the Spurs team hotel, but that the game was still currently scheduled to go ahead.

There is expected to be a further update on the situation 1300 BST.

Spurs would seal fourth place with a win, but they will still face an anxious wait to see if they can compete in the Champions League next season.

Even if they finish fourth, Spurs will be replaced by in the competition by Arsenal if they beat Barcelona in the Champions League final on 17 May.

Arsenal's game will be postponed as well I would have thought.

EDIT - didn't read the full article but it isn't really fair on Arsenal.

At least Spurs will be without seven players, should be good! Does anyone know which players will be missing?

Apparently Jenas has had some tainted sausage, but he should be okay as he only could manage half of it before gagging.

West Ham 1-0 up.

TalkSport were saying earlier that Scotland Yard had cordoned off the hotel and were investigating....

Sounds fucking dodgy whatever's happened if they've been drafted in but it couldn't have happened to a nicer club! :quotes:

Heard a rumour that Carrick chucked his guts up in the tunnel just before coming out...

And so the fuckers should have played, anyone remember when we asked for our game to be postponed because of the conjunctivitus epidemic only to be told it wasn't an excuse!

Fact of the matter is Spurs actually put up a game to West Ham so they can hardly use it as an excuse.

If they'd been total gash then maybe...

Dead funny that like, although I would have preferred them to have had a fit squad and lost it to take away this excuse. Supposedly Levy might try and take things further, but I don't see how he has a case. It's no different to if you had a flu outbreak at the club or whatever.

If it was an Arsenal-supporting chef up to no good though, fair play to the bloke. :quotes: I very much doubt there was any foul play though - it's not exactly unheard of for people to come down with food poisoning!?

Are they seriously investigating the claim that a lasagne was intentionally poisoned?  :quotes:

Daft sods staying in a hotel. They were only playing West Ham. Hardly a cross country trek.

Quite a few clubs get the players in a hotel overnight even if they're playing home games, to get them focused. Man Utd do apparently.
