Lass at uni thought the line "Sweetness, I was only joking when I said 'I'd like to smash every tooth in your head' " from Bigmouth Strikes Again said 'mash a beetroot in your head'. Genius I thought :icon_lol:

Daft bitch on a Hen Doo in town after the Wigan game, stumbling up past The Gate singing 'all the cigarettes' instead of 'all the single ladies' with one of her friends quietly tugging on her L plate trying to correct her.

You know that song that goes ...

oom pa

oom pa pa

oom pa pa

oom pa pa!

oom pa

oom pa

oom pa pa

oom pa

oom pa pa

On a loop one of the lads was singing...

paedo

paedo

paedophile

paedophile

paedophile

paedo

paedo

paedophile

paedo

paedophile

Which was funny at the time.

I started as an altar boy, working at the church

Learning all my holy moves, doing some research

Which led me to a cash box, labeled "Children's Fund"

I'd leave the change, and tuck the bills inside my cummerbund

I got a part-time job at my father's carpet store

Laying tackless stripping, and housewives by the score

I loaded up their furniture, and took it to Spokane

And auctioned off every last naugahyde divan

I'm very well aquainted with the seven deadly sins

I keep a busy schedule trying to fit them in

I'm proud to be a glutton, and I don't have time for sloth

I'm greedy, and I'm angry, and I don't care who I cross

I'm Mr. Bad Example, intruder in the dirt

I like to have a good time, and I don't care who gets hurt

I'm Mr. Bad Example, take a look at me

I'll live to be a hundred, and go down in infamy

Of course I went to law school and took a law degree

And counseled all my clients to plead insanity

Then worked in hair replacement, swindling the bald

Where very few are chosen, and fewer still are called

Then on to Monte Carlo to play chemin de fer

I threw away the fortune I made transplanting hair

I put my last few francs down on a prostitute

Who took me up to her room to perform the flag salute

Whereupon I stole her passport and her wig

And headed for the airport and the midnight flight, you dig?

And fourteen hours later I was down in Adelaide

Looking through the want ads sipping Fosters in the shade

I opened up an agency somewhere down the line

To hire aboriginals to work the opal mines

But I attached their wages and took a whopping cut

And whisked away their workman's comp and pauperized the lot

I'm Mr. Bad Example, intruder in the dirt

I like to have a good time, and I don't care who gets hurt

I'm Mr. Bad Example, take a look at me

I'll live to be a hundred and go down in infamy

I bought a first class ticket on Malaysian Air

And landed in Sri Lanka none the worse for wear

I'm thinking of retiring from all my dirty deals

I'll see you in the next life, wake me up for meals

Warren Zevon, funny lyrics man.

I thought Bernie Taupin was prob the best ever. Too many to mention.

Levon is an underrated song IMO. Lyrically and musically.

it was a hit in the US singles charts, but Elton John didn't really get into the singles market in the UK until he released Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock and Daniel, after the release of Your Song.

Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Across the Water didn't produce any singles in the UK

http://www.eltonography.com/songs/levon.html

Levon wears his war wound like a crown

He calls his child Jesus

`Cause he likes the name

And he sends him to the finest school in town

Levon, Levon likes his money

He makes a lot they say

Spends his days counting

In a garage by the motorway

He was born a pauper to a pawn on a Christmas day

When the New York Times said God is dead

And the war's begun

Alvin Tostig has a son today

chorus

And he shall be Levon

And he shall be a good man

And he shall be Levon

In tradition with the family plan

And he shall be Levon

And he shall be a good man

He shall be Levon

Levon sells cartoon balloons in town

His family business thrives

Jesus blows up balloons all day

Sits on the porch swing watching them fly

And Jesus, he wants to go to Venus

Leaving Levon far behind

Take a balloon and go sailing

While Levon, Levon slowly dies

He was born a pauper to a pawn on a Christmas day

When the New York Times said God is dead

And the war's begun

Alvin Tostig has a son today

[repeat chorus]

Indian Sunset, also from Madman Across The Water

As I awoke this evening with the smell of wood smoke clinging

Like a gentle cobweb hanging upon a painted tepee

Oh I went to see my chieftain with my warlance and my woman

For he told us that the yellow moon would very soon be leaving

This I can't believe I said, I can't believe our warlord's dead

Oh he would not leave the chosen ones to the buzzards and the soldiers guns

Oh great father of the Iroquois ever since I was young

I've read the writing of the smoke and breastfed on the sound of drums

I've learned to hurl the tomahawk and ride a painted pony wild

To run the gauntlet of the Sioux, to make a chieftain's daughter mine

And now you ask that I should watch

The red man's race be slowly crushed

What kind of words are these to hear

From Yellow Dog whom white man fears

I take only what is mine Lord, my pony, my squaw, and my child

I can't stay to see you die along with my tribe's pride

I go to search for the yellow moon and the fathers of our sons

Where the red sun sinks in the hills of gold and the healing waters run

Trampling down the prairie rose leaving hoof tracks in the sand

Those who wish to follow me I welcome with my hands

I heard from passing renegades Geronimo was dead

He'd been laying down his weapons when they filled him full of lead

Now there seems no reason why I should carry on

In this land that once was my land I can't find a home

It's lonely and it's quiet and the horse soldiers are coming

And I think it's time I strung my bow and ceased my senseless running

For soon I'll find the yellow moon along with my loved ones

Where the buffalos graze in clover fields without the sound of guns

And the red sun sinks at last into the hills of gold

And peace to this young warrior comes with a bullet hole

When you laugh it just makes me cry

When you cry it just makes me smile

When you smile well that makes me mad

When you're mad it just makes me laugh

When you're high it just makes me low

When you're low it just picks me up

You feel up well that gets me down

When you're down it makes me feel high

And you never gave me anything but I ended up with less

Blame it on the bad actress

And I never asked for everything but I ended up a mess

Blame it on the bad actress

If you leave that means I'll stay

If you stay I'll just have to go

When you go then I'll have to wait

If you wait I'll just have to leave

And you never gave me anything but I ended up with less

Blame it on the bad actress

And I never asked for everything but I ended up a mess

Blame it on the bad actress

If I was to say anything you'd say the opposite

Maybe try to suggest something and just get torn to bits

We could both think up the same thing and you'd say say something else

We could not agree on one thing except for how it felt

And you never gave me anything but I ended up with less

Blame it on the bad actress

And I never asked for everything but I ended up a mess

Blame it on the bad actress

Always loved the lyrics to 'In my Darkest Hour' By Megadeth

In my hour of need,

Ha, no, you were not there

And though I reached out for you,

You wouldn't lend a hand

Through the darkest hour,

Grace did not shine on me

Feels so cold, very cold,

No one cares for me...

Did you ever think I get lonely?

Did you ever think that I needed love?

Did you ever think to stop thinking?

You're the only one that I'm thinking of

You'll never know how hard I tried

To find my space and satisfy you too

Things will be better when I'm dead and gone

Don't try to understand. Knowing you, I'm probably wrong

But oh, how I lived my life for you,

Still you'd turn away

Now, as I die for you,

My flesh still crawls as I breathe your name

All these years,I thought I was wrong,

Now I know it was you

Raise you head, raise your face, your eyes,

Tell me who you think you are

I walk, I walk alone

To the promised land

There's a better place for me

But it's far, far away

Everlasting life for me

In a perfect world

But I gotta die first,

Please god send me on my way

[solo - Dave]

Time has a way of taking time

The loneliness is not only felt by fools

Alone, I call to ease the pain,

Yearning to be held by you

Alone, so alone, I'm lost,

Consumed by the pain

[solo - Dave]

The pain, the pain, the pain

Won't you hold me again

You just laughed, ha-ha, bitch

My whole life is work built on the past,

The time has come when all things shall pass,

This good thing passed away...

(I've sung that so many times Im word perfect)!

Also love the lyrics to 'Comfortably Numb' Pink Floyd.

Hello?

Is there anybody in there?

Just nod if you can hear me.

Is there anyone at home?

Come on, now,

I hear you're feeling down.

Well I can ease your pain

Get you on your feet again.

Relax.

I'll need some information first.

Just the basic facts

Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding

A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.

You are only coming through in waves.

Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.

When I was a child I had a fever

My hands felt just like two balloons.

Now I've got that feeling once again

I can't explain you would not understand

This is not how I am.

I have become comfortably numb.

(solo)

I have become comfortably numb.

O. K.

Just a little pin prick.

There'll be no more aaaaaaaaah!

But you may feel a little sick.

Can you stand up?

I do believe its working good.

That'll keep you going through the show

Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain you are receding

A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.

You are only coming through in waves.

Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.

When I was a child

I caught a fleeting glimpse

Out of the corner of my eye

I turned to look but it was gone

I cannot put my finger on it now

The child is grown,

The dream is gone.

I have become comfortably numb.

I admire Nick Caves lyrics too.

Tied in to what im currently listening to - but Pretty much everything Jessey Lacey writes is gold, absolutely love his writing style and content - this in particular is one of my favourites.

Jesus Christ - Brand new

Jesus Christ that's a pretty face

the kind you'd find on someone that could save.

If they don't put me away

it'll be a miracle.

Do you believe you're missing out

and everything good is happening somewhere else?

But with nobody in your bed

the night's hard to get through.

And I will die all all alone.

And when I arrive, I won't know anyone.

Well Jesus Christ, I'm alone again.

So what did you do those three days you were dead?

because this problem's gonna last

more than the weekend.

Well Jesus Christ, I'm not scared to die,

I'm a little bit scared of what comes after.

Do I get the gold chariot?

Do I float through the ceiling?

Do I divide and fall apart?

because my bright is too sly to hold back all my dark.

And the ship went down in sight of land.

And at the gates does Thomas ask to see my hands?

I know you'll come in the night like a thief

But Ive had some time, O Lord, to hone my lying technique

I know you think that I'm someone you can trust

But I'm scared I'll get scared and I swear I'll try to never give up

So do you think that we could work out a song

Some know that it's you and that it's over so I won't even try

I know you'll come for the people like me

But we all got wood and nails

Tongue tied to a hating factory

Yeah we all got wood and nails

Tongue tied to a hating factory

Yeah we all got wood and nails

We sleep inside of this machine

One of my favourites has to be Time by Pink Floyd. In particular:

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking

Racing around to come up behind you again

The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Don't fake it baby, lay the real thing on me

The church of man, love

Is such a holy place to be

Make me baby, make me know you really care

Make me jump into the air

Moonage Daydream - Bowie

I got a suite and you got defeat

Ain't there a man you can say no more?

And, ain't there a woman I can sock on the jaw?

And, ain't there a child I can hold without judging?

Ain't there a pen that will write before they die?

Ain't you proud that you've still got faces?

Ain't there one damn song that can make me

break down and cry?

Young Americans - Bowie

I like Bowie

She was marrying a matador and he was with the weather girl,

A very clever girl who stood out amongst several once

A terrible dilemma and forever he'll regret this day he didn't make the

Rescue from the building

Sulking won't get you nowhere son,

There's blood on your chin where you've bitten your tongue

Smitten but might not be smitten for long if you're still sitting she'll soon

Be smitten and gone

They’re selling postcards of the hanging

They’re painting the passports brown

The beauty parlor is filled with sailors

The circus is in town

Here comes the blind commissioner

They’ve got him in a trance

One hand is tied to the tight-rope walker

The other is in his pants

And the riot squad they’re restless

They need somewhere to go

As Lady and I look out tonight

From Desolation Row

Desolation Row - Dylan

By the time that I'm through singing

The bells from the schools of wars will be ringing

More confusions, blood transfusions

The news today will be the movies for tomorrow

And the water's turned to blood, and if

You don't think so

Go turn on your tub

And it it's mixed with mud

You'll see it turn to gray

And you can call my name

This House is not a Motel - Love
