Fulham will "listen to offers" for star midfielder Steed Malbranque after the Frenchman rejected a new contract to stay at Craven Cottage. The 26-year-old would have been out of contract in summer 2007 and the Cottagers claim Malbranque wanted to play out next season before moving on a lucrative Bosman free transfer.

A club statement posted on the official website read: "Fulham Football Club began its negotiations to renew the contract of Steed Malbranque in the summer of 2005.

"After protracted discussions an offer was made to the player and his agents at the beginning of May which amounted to the most significant financial package in the club's history.

"Unfortunately Steed Malbranque has not accepted this offer and has in fact indicated that no offer would be acceptable at this stage as he would like to leave Fulham next summer on a free transfer.

"This is obviously a situation that has clear financial implications and would be unacceptable to the club, especially as its position is to aim for a top 10 finish in the forthcoming season.

"Therefore the manager (Chris Coleman), with the support of the chairman (Mohamed Al Fayed) and the board, is actively seeking a replacement for Steed Malbranque for the 2006-07 season and the club will listen to offers from all clubs for Steed's immediate transfer."

The midfielder has previously been linked with Manchester City and Liverpool.

Would definitely be a good signing IMO, providing Fulham don't want silly money for him.

Last summer maybe, this summer no. I think other position need strengthening before and I wouldn't throw 50k a week at him (I read these were the wages Fulham offered to him)...

You can stick Pennant up your arse, Wenger got rid of him for good reason, the bloke is a liability off the pitch, he'd be in the papers more than the first team.

No thanks.

Better than Milner imo, would buy him if we could do it at the same price we sell Milner for.

Definitely, plus there are rumours that Nobby is off home to Peru.
