While browsing in a supermarket, would you ever buy a strange looking vegetable because it was reduced even though you didnt have a clue what it was?

TopLass just did, the conversation went something like this....

Pud "whats that?"

TL "dunno, but it might make canny juice"

Pud "so lets get this straight, you're buying this veg cos it might juice ok?"

TL "yeah"

And the veg was?

Fennel.

mmmmmmmmmmmm Fennel juice ooooooh cant wait. :icon_lol:

The reasoning for all of this is that shes just got the juicer to beat all juicers and is currently sitting peeling 4 dozen oranges. Taking everything into account such as purchase cost of said oranges, time taken to peel, electricity to power juicer and water to clean it and I reckon this fabulous fresh juice works out at a mere £14.97 per glass. ;)

thats true, ours went extinct for years, lost at the back of the cupboard....though now its back in favour...daily use infact! :icon_lol: My son makes cheese and pineapple toasties all the time ;)

By the way pud, fennel juice is only good for one thing....babies

That reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Dr. Nick invents a juicer where you can get a glass of orange out of 5 bags of oranges!

Fennel's lovely.  How come neither of you could recognise it ?

If you like aniseed, it could well make a nice drink.
