If you are prepared to kill people, do you think the burden of evidence should be even stronger? Do you think this would lead to an increased risk of acquittal? There were no mitigating circumstances - what could they possibly be anyway? Seriously, watch the footage - the matter of fact way that he stabs this kid in the chest and just walks off to stab his other mate has to be seen to be believed. If you've got footage like that of someone, and there can be no doubt as to guilt, then do away with them. What right to appeal should he be entitled to?
