for £34m apparently, and god knows what wages for 4 years. Another great step towards being self sufficient within a few years by the Blues most surely

Well give me Sheva over having to watch Drogba any day though.

He's been an amazing goal scorer year in and year out against the best italian defences and in the champions league. Playing for Chlesea against some of the defences here the bloke is going to score an absolute shitload.

rosick and henry are canny too like. Im dubious as to how well ballack will fit in with robben, duff, lampard, makelele, SWP, Essien etc.

SWP must surely be leaving, and I'd think that Essien won't be playing much.

Looks like Jose is building a team to win the CL though, rather than the Premiership. Think they'll win both next year though.

I hope they win bugger all next year. While shevchenko is no doubt one of the best around he ain't superman as some are making out. He'll do well, but i don't think hes gonna be smashing any records or anything.

A better goalscorer than Henry tbh

They didn't exactly need him to make them the dominant force though did they.

Needs 35 to break the record I think. Very tough as I think he'll be rested for CL games often, but maybe worth a couple of quid.

30m for a 29 year old is a bit steep , not that Chelsea cant afford it mind. 25/1 on him beating the all time premiership top scorer record seems like a canny bet

Never going to happen imo. He'll poo his pants after a few defenders kick a few lumps out of him. RIPLEYSBETTERBELIEVEITBAY_BEE!

I though A.Cole held the record for 35, for us.

Cole got 34 (40 appearances) in the league, jointly holds the record with Shearer (42 appearances), although back then the Premiership was a 22-team affair.

Cole got 41 goals overall that season, after netting hat-tricks in both legs of a League Cup tie against Notts County, if I recall.

i think shevchenko's price is right for a player thats consitently performed week in and week out in the dullest most defensive league in world football. truly world class tbh....

That's just a myth about Italian footy now, the Premiership last season at times was even duller with the constant use of 4-5-1 by the lesser teams
