A dry month

I'm thinking of having a dry month for September, a whole calender month minus the demon drink.

I've been on holiday (and drank 13 nights out of 14), been to a couple of BBQs, going to a leaving party tonight and Redcar Races next Saturday. Not only is this probably playing havoc with my liver but I've also had to buy my first ever pair of 34 waist trousers. I've been a 32 since I left school!

So thats it. No drink for me in Semptember.

I've been off for about 3 weeks. Stayed off for a couple of years before that. It's bloody difficult at first but gets easier.

Pub can be a bit of a bore sometimes though - especially towards the end of the night.

A free month can be a good way of starting a clean slate. Go for a month then just get into the habbit of drinking smaller amounts when your out. It's piss easy in the pub. Just have a soft drink every other pint. Tougher if you're doing bars and clubs though.

I've done a month before, its ok as long as you don't put too much temptation in the way. I caved in in a club last time, couldn't drink water any longer.

And there's nowt worse than listening to your mates rambling on about a load of drunken rubbish whilst your stone cold sober.

  • 3 weeks later...

I would but here are my reasons not to....

- I start Uni in 3 weeks and have Freshers Week to attend.

- And....I don't wanna...

Good on you for giving up though!

I'm not having a dry month but am trying to have a healthier month.

- Only drinking in moderation

- Less junk food / more healthy food

- Cutting right down on caffeine

- Exercising more

Also going to try and swear less..

I'll never last.

Not doing badly yet so far though.. not very far into September, admittedly.

Too difficult to go completely dry when the football season's getting into full swing imo.

So by that logic summer would be better, because there's no football, but drinking and going out in the nice weather's the best part of summer...I dunno they get you coming, and they get you going

Considering I don't think I've ever met you whilst you were sober I'd say that any day/month/season would have it's occasions for getting completely hammered.
