NEWCASTLE United have confirmed that midfielder Martin Brittain has left the club.

The Geordie lad had been with the Newcastle United Academy since the age of nine and came up through the junior ranks.

Formerly at Cramlington Community High School, Martin was the only ever present with the Under 17s in 2001/02 playing all 31 games, and scoring three goals.

The victory in the Play Off Final against Manchester United in May 2002 was the highlight of his Newcastle United career until he made his first team bow in March 2004.

He made his Reserve team debut against Liverpool at Kingston Park on 10 March 2003 and went on to make seven reserve appearances before the end of the season, scoring once.

Made his first team debut on 3 March 2004 against Valerenga in the UEFA Cup and won the 'Wor Jackie' award from Sport Newcastle in March 2004.

In total he managed one start and seven sub outings at senior level. Last season he also made 25 appearances for the Reserves, scoring twice.

He was shite anyway.

He'll end up with Blyth Spartans or something, with Jamie McClen.
