more than half of the star wars films are quite poo, but the scores are fantastic.

the Darth Vader March theme, the theme for the Phantom Menace fight scenes, seminal pieces of music.

but even if you ignore star wars, you still have Jurassic Park theme, which is epic, Catch me if you Can.. entirely different but awesome none th less.... Hell.. the Jaws theme... For fucks sake!

Good, The Bad & The Ugly! Few Dollars More, Fistfull, Once Upon A Time In The West, The Untouchables!

The score in 'For A Few Dollars More' played 'Paying Of Scores' just as Indio is toying with that bloke who got him put into jail sends shivers down me spine everytime

but doesn't the rhythmic cello tone raise the hackles on the back of your neck?

I'd admit Ennio is remarkable, but I don't think he shows the same variety.

You'd shoot a man just to watch him die tbh.

Fish - Can you really call the music from Phantom Menace seminal? Unless you mean it's wank, of course...

Guest Sima
He just did a song or 2 though. Harold and Vince were in charge of the entire soundtrack

Yeah I know, doesn't stop "Danger Zone" being utterly amazing.

  • 1 year later...

Even if you take out all his amazing stuff with Leone and his famous Hollywood scores (The Proffessional, The Untouchables, The Mission etc.) there's loads more from Erricone. More often than not his music is the best thing in a film....

Il Mercenario

Navajo Joe

Exorcist 2 The Heretic

Hawks and sparrows

The Big Gundown

The Cat

What about John Carpenter?

Used the same piece of music in every film didnt he? - now thats talent.

Wrote it himself though. I quite like the soundtracks to his 80s classics.

The 70's ones were better, Alex.

Assault on precinct 13 and Halloween amongst others.

Morricone is good, Bernard Hermann is better. Eric Serra also gets a vote from me for the leon soundtrack. Vangelis for blade runner and chariots of fire.

John williams is not bad either mind....

Late 70s too then :nufc: Good shout re: Vangelis.

Edit: I never actually realised 'Assault on Precinct 13' was 1976. Classic.
