HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having REALLY big problems with my connection today. I just know there is a SHIT LOAD of Trojan virus's, but I'm unable to do anything about it.

 

As a result my computer is really slow and I keep getting pop-ups saying how vulnerable my compter is.

 

I did try this link Pud provided http://www.winsockfix.nl/winsockxpfix.exe but I still get the same result once my computer starts up again with the Address As 'about:blank' in my Internet options.

 

Please, please help!

i take it youve ran your anti virus software - a FULL SYSTEM scan? (that means every file on every hard disc)

 

what about adaware, spybot, hijackthis etc etc ?

 

do you have a program name or a virus name of whats causing the problems?

 

do you still have your windows installation discs?

I've ran adaware & spybot as a full AVG Free Virus Fault scan. I've ran other scans too after receiving pop-ups for recommened downloads where you end up having to folk out £30 quid to take care of them after doing a full scan. On one particular scan there were over 120 serious virus's.....quite worrying....!

 

I haven't tried hijackthis, but will now.

 

i don't have any installation discs unfortunatly. Trojan virus's seem to be the main identified virus's.

take that with a pinch of salt mate - its to frighten you into buying their software that will miraculasly cuer your problems (that wernt there inthe first place)

are the popups directing you to one particular piece of software ?

Lazarus is correct -an awful lot of these "warnings" are bollix

 

Gte something decent and sweep your machine

search your system for the following (without the quotes) "SpySheriff "

 

let me know if you find out

Searched through everything, but SpySheriff didn't appear, all though it did when I had taht urgent warning pop up from the bottom of my screen as a recommended virus package.
