Waiting for L'OM

While United defender Jean-Alain Boumsong holidays in South Africa with his international colleague Lilian Thuram, moves continue to secure his return to France for next season.

Marseille remain favourites but there seems to be some horse-trading still to be done, with the side from the Velodrome apparently unwilling or unable to meet our valuation.

Marseille general manager Pape Diouf has been quoted as follows:

"Jean-Alain Boumsong is an experienced player who is part of the French team and who has shown all of his defensive efficiency in Ligue 1.

"His transfer is complex on a financial level, as with every player who is in England, but we will go on with this case."

There's now speculation that Marseille will turn their attentions to Siena's Croatian centre back Igor Tudor if they're unable to strike a deal with United. It remains to be seen whether this is a smokescreen or genuine interest.

PS - inbound? nowt yet.
